Story
Clancy is a 4 year, 70 lb apricot Standard Poodle who was surrendered here due to zero fault of his own. We were told that his owners wanted to start traveling and that he was not socialized to travel. Clancy is nervous here at the shelter (understandably since his entire life has been turned upside down), but from what we hear, at home, he's a rockstar. He is housebroken, loves rehearsing his commands (sit, lay down, shake, and others). He is described as a snugglebug.Clancy is accustomed to living with a small dog. He has been introduced to several dogs here, but while he is not outright aggressive, he is very uncomfortable with dogs in his space and will likely take a long time to warm up to a potential friend. While he has not lived day-in with children, he has been exposed to them throughout his life. He can be body sensitive, so a home with older, dog savvy children or no children is preferred. He does not like cats! Clancy would thrive best in a home with a fenced yard as he can be reluctant to use the bathroom while on leash. Clancy has a medium-high energy level - he is not hyperactive but is playful and goofy. He is an excellent office dog. He stands up and rests his front paws on the window to watch the goings-on, but most of the time he lays right next to you. He's quiet and respectful of space, but he's happy to place his big fuzzy paws on your chest after you give him permission to do so! *Note: Poodles are dogs that need regular grooming, and the grooming costs for a dog Clancy's size will not be cheap. Grooming for a coated breed is non-optional, and lack of coat maintenance can cause pain and health issues. Please consider whether this comittment and additional cost is something that you're ready for - for the next 8+ years!

Story
Good day my name is Bruno. I am a very handsome standard poodle that is 8 years old and weighs 57 lbs. I would really like to get to know you but sometimes it takes me just a little bit to trust so please be patient. I have alot happen the last few days of me coming to A Dog's Dream.. first I was brought to the vet where I was neutered, had my teeth cleaned and then was poked with sharp needles to bring me up to date on vaccines. Then I was moved in to a strange house, the girls here are very nice. So I am thinking a retirement home would be nice. So if you would like to come and meet me just let the girls know and they will happy to set that up.

Story
Meet Halsey, a lovable Poodle mix aged 3 to 5 years. Known for her friendly and playful nature, Halsey also has a sweet and cuddly side that makes her the perfect companion for cozy evenings. Although she enjoys playtime, she is gentle and mellow, making her an ideal pet for families seeking a calm companion. Halsey is a bit shy, which means she cherishes quiet moments just as much as fun-filled ones. She is good with cats and can easily fit into a home with feline friends. Consider adopting Halsey and experience the joy of having a loyal, loving friend. Dogs are usually tested with other dogs their size, and we encourage meet-and-greets with your dog before adoption. Cat tests are available if requested, but they only check for clear aggression. Always be careful when introducing dogs to cats. Advice about dogs living with children is based on behavior like energy level and how the dog handles touch. Young children should never be left alone with dogs, and we cannot guarantee how any dog will behave with kids or other pets. Behavior seen in the shelter is just a snapshot and may change in a home. Dogs come from many backgrounds and may need training, time, and patience. Dogs should not be fed together unless you know they do not guard food. We also suggest learning about a dog's breed or mix to be sure it fits your family. Moving to a new home can be stressful for dogs. Use the Rule of 3 to help them adjust: First 3 days: Dogs may feel scared, tired, overexcited, or not want to eat. First 3 weeks: Dogs start learning routines and may show new behaviors. Keep things calm and avoid busy places. First 3 months: Dogs usually feel settled and more comfortable.
