Podling is an adorable 2-year-old Poodle/Havanese mix who is learning that people can be trusted. This sweet boy was understandably nervous when he first arrived, but with patience, kindness, and time, his personality has begun to shine.Podling is still a little shy, especially around men, but he's making wonderful progress and has slowly built a trusting relationship with his foster dad. Once he feels safe, he loves leaning in for ear scratches, booty rubs, and simply being close to his favorite people. Because of his past, he may initially growl when he's feeling scared or uncertain. He's not being mean—he's communicating that he needs a little more time to feel secure.When he's comfortable, Podling has a playful side. He loves stealing toys from his foster dog cousin and starting a fun game of chase around the house. He also gets the occasional case of the zoomies that will have you smiling.While Podling enjoys the company of his foster dog cousin, we've learned that he is selective about his canine friends. He doesn't enjoy every dog he meets and takes time to feel safe around new dogs. Because of this, he would do best as an only dog or with a calm, compatible dog after slow, thoughtful introductions. A patient adopter who understands dog relationships and is willing to let him adjust at his own pace will set him up for success.Podling is house trained and sleeps quietly in his crate at night. During the day, his crate is his safe place where he can relax and enjoy his meals without interruption. He does prefer having company and isn't a fan of being crated when left home alone, so he'll benefit from a family that can continue building his confidence and helping him feel secure.Podling is looking for a patient, loving home that understands trust isn't built overnight.
