Meet Akins — The Comeback Kid with the Sweetest Soul! At the beginning of October, he was found as a stray and brought into an ER vet severely underweight, dehydrated, and fighting parvo. With the amazing team of veterinarians — and the backing of 405 Animal Rescue — Akins made a complete turnaround. Today, he’s not just surviving — he’s thriving in his foster home! Akins is approximately 1.5 years old and assumed to be a poodle mix. When found, he weighed only 25 lbs; now he’s up to 31 lbs and steadily working toward his ideal weight of 35–40 lbs. He’s a gentle, affectionate boy who bonds deeply with his people. At night, he sleeps wonderfully in his crate as long as it’s in the same room as his human. Akins didn’t have a loving home before rescue, so he’s still learning the ropes of real family life — including potty training and feeling safe alone. Because of this, he has a few must-haves for his future home: Akins’ Nonnegotiables• Another active dog (similar size) who can tolerate and gently correct puppy-like chewing or nipping. Akins is still learning appropriate play and benefits greatly from a confident, patient dog teacher.• A human who is home most of the day (work-from-home, stay-at-home parent, etc.).• A house with a yard — apartment living won’t be the right fit for him and will not be considered.• A person/family willing to continue his potty training — he’s making great progress but is still learning.• A patient person/family who can help him work through separation anxiety, as he does bark when left alone and needs support while building confidence. Despite everything he’s been through, Akins’ heart is pure gold. He’s sweet, loving, eager to please, and so deserving of a person or family who will cherish him forever. Watching him blossom is one of the most rewarding experiences — and now he’s ready to share that joy with his forever people. Hi, I’m Wednesday.I’m a ten-pound, six-year-old poodle mix. I was surrendered to All Paws due to no fault of my own. I’m looking for the perfect family who can give me stability and unconditional love for the rest of my life. I took the transition into the rescue hard because I’m very loyal and connected to my humans, so I really don’t want to go through this again! I’m a laid-back, sometimes opinionated girl with a soft spot for balance: a little play, a little quiet. I love to follow my humans around, just patiently waiting for your next move…And hopefully it’s to the couch to snuggle. I also enjoy walks (I’m great on a leash), lounging around, and playing with toys! I also like to roughhouse with my foster brothers sometimes! It took me a while to warm up to them, but I am slowly learning that other dogs aren’t all that bad. I would be great as your one and only princess, but if it’s the right company, I may be just as happy in a home with other dogs.I’m just hoping for someone who wants a loving, loyal companion to follow them around, brighten their routine, and smile often. I don’t need much- Regular grooming to keep my fluff fresh, a cozy place to nap, and a person to adore!I’m working on crate training and doing well, but sometimes I need a potty break during lunch time. I will require regular grooming every 6-8 weeks. This is important to help me feel comfortable and stay healthy! I’m current on vaccines and flea, tick and heart-worm prevention.
