Story
We have a transport leaving September 26th 2026 from where we are located in Southern California to NorCal, OR, and surrounding states as needed for our adopting families where we bring our dogs all the way to their homes 💗 For peace of mind we never ask for anything up front. The adoption fee along with your share of travel costs will be due the day we arrive in person ultimately finalizing the adoption then and there with you. We would love to add Dahlia to our trip for the right family 😊 Meet our beautiful Dahlia 🤍 Dahlia is a gorgeous Standard Poodle with the most beautiful coloring, depending on who you ask, you may hear her described as white Merle or Parti colored. Whatever technical name you want to give her coat, there is no denying that this girl is absolutely beautiful. She is also a larger Standard Poodle, weighing in at 60 lbs 💕 Dahlia came to us after her owner was preparing to move out of state and was unable to take her along. Sometimes life changes leave wonderful dogs needing an entirely new chapter through absolutely no fault of their own, and Dahlia has made it very clear since arriving that she is more than ready to settle right back into being someone’s beloved girl. And when I say settle in, I mean Dahlia wasted very little time figuring out how things work around here 😂 She discovered our bed all on her own and has since been caught peacefully napping there, completely stretched out and comfortable as if she had been sleeping there her entire life. Apparently, Dahlia believes that if a bed is available, it should not go to waste! She is crate trained and can absolutely use a crate when needed, but she is so wonderful in the home that she doesn’t need to spend her life in one. Give her a comfortable place to lay, let her be part of the family, and she is perfectly happy. She is fully housetrained and does wonderfully going outside throughout the day. Her house manners have been wonderful, especially considering her size. She knows how to settle, relax, and simply coexist with everyone around her without needing constant entertainment or direction. Dahlia is also good on leash and enjoys getting out and about. She is a big girl, so naturally there is a lot more dog at the end of the leash than there would be with one of our tiny ones, but she listens well and has been wonderful to handle. She is GREAT in the car and travels beautifully, which is something we always appreciate with our dogs. Whether her future consists of trips around town, visits with family, vacations, or simply tagging along for everyday errands, Dahlia is more than happy to hop in and go along for the ride. She is also wonderful at the groomers, another pretty important quality when you are talking about a Standard Poodle! She handles the grooming process beautifully and has been an absolute pleasure for them. Her future family will need to be committed to maintaining her coat with regular professional grooming, but thankfully Dahlia makes that part pretty easy. One of the things we love most about her is how naturally social she is. Dahlia is great with everyone she meets. She isn’t a girl who wants to hide away from the world or needs convincing that new people can be friends. She has a wonderful temperament and genuinely enjoys people, affection, and being included in whatever is happening around her. She has that combination that can be so hard to find in a larger dog, she is substantial enough to feel like a true big companion, yet she knows how to live comfortably inside a home. She can go for a ride, walk nicely on leash, behave for her groomer, meet new people happily, and then come home and promptly locate the most comfortable sleeping spot available. 😂🤍 Her adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of her adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/dahlia-1 Her adoption fee helps cover the veterinary care and everything that goes into preparing her for adoption which includes her spay, dental cleaning and polish, yearly vaccines, microchip & registration, and her exam with our vet which went perfect 💕 Dahlia isn’t looking for anything complicated. She needs someone who wants a beautiful, loyal Standard Poodle sharing their home, their adventures, their everyday life, and, judging by what we have learned about her so far, quite possibly their bed too. 😂🤍 She lost the home she knew because life changed around her. Now we get the privilege of finding the home that won’t just be her next stop, but the place where she gets to unpack her heart, get comfortable, and know that she is finally home for good. 🤍

Story
Meet Opal! Opal is a young poodle mix who has come a long way in a very short time! Found as a stray, her first couple of days at the rescue were understandably scary. But Opal quickly realized she was safe, people were kind, and she had nothing to fear. Once she felt comfortable, her sweet personality came shining through and now she is as warm, outgoing, and friendly as they come, although still nervous with our male staff and volunteers. Opal may be cautious when faced with new experiences as she continues to navigate her new life. Her forever family can help her build confidence by offering patience, encouragement, and lots of positive, fun experiences at her own pace. With the right support, we expect this sweet girl will continue to blossom. Opal has done well with the dogs she rooms with at the rescue and would likely enjoy having another playful, friendly dog to share her new home with. Her history with cats and children is unknown, but she may be able to live successfully with either in an otherwise calm household, provided introductions are slow, thoughtful, and well supervised. Opal is ready to leave her stray days behind and discover just how wonderful life with a family can be. If you’re looking for a friendly, affectionate companion who is eager to trust and connect with her people, Opal may be the perfect little match! Be sure to keep your eyes peeled on Instagram (@nwdogproject) for updates! If you would like to be considered as Opal's forever home, be sure to submit an adoption application on our website! Adoption fee includes; spay/neuter, microchip, microchip registration, dewormer, fecal testing, flea/tick prevention and age-appropriate vaccines. Opal would do great in a home with...Cats : Dogs : Yep!  Kiddos :   ##2830673##

Story
We have a transport leaving August 29th 2026 from where we are located in Southern California to NorCal, OR, and surrounding states as needed for our adopting families where we bring our dogs all the way to their homes 💗 For peace of mind we never ask for anything up front. The adoption fee along with your share of travel costs will be due the day we arrive in person ultimately finalizing the adoption then and there with you. We would love to add Pumba to our trip for the right family 😊 Meet Pumba, our big, beautiful Goldendoodle teddy bear who is ready to find the family lucky enough to call him theirs! 🧸💙 Pumba was born August 19, 2023, and at a whopping 90 lbs, he is a BIG boy for sure! 😂 He definitely took after the Golden Retriever side when it comes to his size and overall appearance, but he has that wonderful hypoallergenic coat from his Poodle side, which is truly a win-win if you ask me! And as big as Pumba is physically, his personality and heart are every bit as big. 💙 Pumba came to us through no fault of his own. His prior owner had a work-related move come up that required him to relocate out of state on a very short timeline. Sadly, the place he was moving into did not allow dogs, and with such little time to make the move happen, he wasn’t able to find alternative housing that would allow him to bring Pumba along. As heartbreaking as it was, he ultimately made the decision to place Pumba with us so that this big guy could have the time, care, and opportunity to find a wonderful home of his own. Pumba was clearly loved, and that shows in the dog he is today. He’s well-mannered, social, trained, trusting, and absolutely loves being part of someone’s everyday life. Now we’re simply looking for the family who gets to pick up where his previous owner had to leave off and give this big teddy bear the forever home he deserves. 💙 Pumba absolutely LOVES people. Truly, the moment you meet him, you are his friend. There is no long introduction period or wondering whether he likes you, he has already decided that you do, in fact, belong to him. 😂 He is incredibly social, affectionate, happy, and just genuinely enjoys being wherever his people are. He does wonderfully with other dogs and especially enjoys the companionship of having a female dog around. That said, another dog is absolutely not a requirement for him. If he has his person, he is perfectly content, and honestly, at 90 lbs, having Pumba around already feels like having two or three dogs rolled into one big teddy bear anyway! 😂 Pumba is house trained and has wonderful manners inside the home. He is also completely crate trained and sleeps in his crate every night without issue. He isn’t a barker, but he absolutely knows how to communicate when he wants or needs something. If he needs to go outside, wants out of his crate, or simply has something to say, he will “talk” to you and make sure you understand. 😂 He is leash trained and does very well on his walks. Of course, anyone considering Pumba needs to remember that he is 90 lbs and a very strong boy, but he listens incredibly well and is attentive to the person handling him. He is also a smart boy who knows “sit,” can shake with BOTH paws, and has great recall. He listens well and genuinely wants to engage with his person, which makes working with him so enjoyable. One of Pumba’s absolute FAVORITE things in the entire world is WATER! 💦 If you have a pool, you can expect him to make himself right at home. He loves to swim and will happily jump in for a real swim or simply dip himself in to cool off. He is a total water dog through and through, so a family who enjoys spending time around the water would certainly make his day! Pumba is also an excellent traveler. He loves jumping into the vehicle because, as far as he is concerned, if you’re going somewhere, he should probably be going too. 😂 He does wonderfully on road trips and around-town adventures and is always happy to come along for the ride. He is equally wonderful for the groomer, which is especially important for a dog with his coat and size. He handles his grooming beautifully and is accustomed to the care necessary to keep him looking and feeling his best. Pumba has been fully cleared by our veterinarian to find a home of his very own. His veterinary care included his neuter, microchip, yearly vaccines, ear examination, complete overall general examination, and a dental cleaning and polish. His teeth looked wonderful and he did not require any extractions. ❤️ His adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of his adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/pumba which helps cover all of the veterinary care listed above, along with the time, care, grooming, training, and everything that has gone into preparing this big guy for the next chapter of his life. Pumba isn’t a little lap dog, although we can’t promise he won’t personally believe otherwise. 😂 He is 90 lbs of love, personality, companionship, and pure teddy-bear energy wrapped up in one incredible dog. He deserves a home that will appreciate everything that makes him Pumba: his enormous heart, his love for people, his goofy personality, his beautiful manners, his love for adventures, and of course, his absolute obsession with water. 💙 Let’s get this big teddy bear the home he deserves! 🧸🐾💙
