Story
Almost Home believes that every animal deserves a loving home regardless of appearance, age, or physical limitation.  We have come together to give animals in need the safe and happy life they all deserve.  Almost Home Animal Rescue believes that no animal is expendable.  Adopting a friend:The animals, lucky enough to find refuge with Almost Home, are all in loving foster homes. If you are interested in the possibility of giving one of the animals a new lease on life, please contact us. The contact information is listed at the end of each biography.  What you need to do to adopt:If you would like to adopt a pet in need from Almost Home, basically, an application must be filled out. We will check two personal references and a vet reference. If you are approved for adoption, there is a trial period of about one week to make sure this is the animal for you and you are the person for the animal. Along with the trial period, a contract must be signed that basically states that if ever you cannot keep the animal that you must return the animal to Almost Home. Last but not least, a home check will be done. Meet & Greets:An approved application is required. This does not mean that you have to adopt but that you are approved to do so if everything works out. Since we are foster based, this limits the amount of people coming to our homes.  Hi there! My name’s Bentley, and I’m a 60-pound bundle of fun, energy, and heart. I might look like a grown-up dog, but between you and me... I’m still a big ol’ puppy inside. I’m learning about this whole “being a good boy” thing, and I’m trying really hard! Before now, no one ever really taught me much, but my foster mom has been helping me learn all the important stuff — like not using my mouth when I play (I get a little too excited sometimes!) and that tennis balls are way better for chewing than hands. I’m already house trained and crate trained, and at night I sleep in my own little mudroom spot like a champ. My family asked my now foster mom to watch me and never came back for me. I couldn't believe it! Talk about heartbreak. I am very VERY lucky that my foster mom is trying to help me find a new home. I love to play and run and be silly! I did great at the dog park, but I like to keep my food to myself — so I’d do best with someone who understands how to help me with sharing and manners. I haven’t met any cats yet, but those squirrels? Eh, they don’t impress me much. I’m a happy boy, but I dream of finding that special person who really gets me — someone patient, kind, and maybe a little experienced with energetic dogs like me. I just know that with love and some training, I can be the best companion ever. I’ve got so much love to give, I just need a family who will help me figure it all out. Could that be you? Love,Bentley PS. Some of my pictures are before I had my fancy day at the groomers.   If you would like to meet your new best friend, contact the Adoption Coordinator at info@almosthometn.org or 865-236-0830. To fill out an application, go to www.almosthometn.org. If you cannot get it to work, let us know and we will email it to you in a different format. Unless otherwise noted, all Almost Home cats are healthy, spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and flea & tick preventative.ADOPTION FEE: The adoption fee for a cat is $85. The adoption fee for a kitten is $100. The adoption fee does include the kittens being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. The adoption fee for a dog is $200. The adoption fee for a puppy is $250. The adoption fee does include the puppies being fixed and their rabies shot when they are old enough through one of our local vets. Mature pet adoption fees are sometimes reduced. The adoption fee for pure bred dogs and cats will vary due to health and age of pet. This helps support our ill animals and our mutts that get left in the system longer. We do reserve the right to change the fees higher or lower due to the circumstance of the animal but what was stated above are the usual adoption fees.  Microchipped pets will have a higher adoption fee.  Our adoption fees do not cover the cost of the vetting and care the animal has received with us and if it ever does, the money just goes back it to helping other animals in need. October 31, 2025, 12:27 am

Story
Marty is being fostered in PA. Little Marty is a sweet, easy-going little mini poodle guy who gets along with dogs and cats and people of all ages. His breed is guessed at as a full blooded mini poodle. His estimated age is about 13 but he's a very quick-stepping little man and enjoys exploring his environment, especially outside. He can find his way to the door and he was doing a great job at pottying outside until his foster mom went back to work a couple weeks ago. He will be very easy to get back in the habit of eliminating outside with a forever family who is home more. He's fairly easy to figure out in that, if he's up and exploring, he needs to go out. :) Marty has a very thin coat of fur on his torso but he does not have any visible skin issues and does not itch. His thyroid levels were checked and were fine. We know little about his past life so he may be recuperating from a past issue. Marty is leash trained and does well but because he's a small and older guy, walks won't be very fast. He also rides well in the car. At this time, he seems to enjoy dog bed hopping over being on a lap and he will walk right off the edge of a chair or bed. He needs to be carried up and down stairs and has no awareness of being at the top of stairs. He will remind his foster mom if his breakfast or dinner is overly late. Marty has had a slight cough since arriving in his foster home and following an xray on September 16th, it was discovered that his heart is slightly enlarged and he has a small amount of fluid in the upper portion of his one lung. These are both signs of congestive heart failure, which is fairly common in little old men like Marty. He will probably need to take Benazepril, Lasix and Pimobendan for the rest of his life. These medications run about 50.00 per month. Marty will have a dental on September 26th. He will probably need to have most, if not all, of his teeth extracted but it will be so much better for him to have a healthy mouth again! Marty will make a sweet little companion for some family. He's very excited to be spoiled and doted on for the rest of his days. BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.

Story
HeyU is being fostered in PA. She was born blind. Meet HeyU - The Little Black Star Ready for Her Forever Stage! Hello world! My name is HeyU, and I’m a silky black mini poodle born on August 29, 2025. I came into this world blind—but don’t let that fool you. I don’t even know I’m blind, because nothing slows me down! I zoom around the backyard, conquer stairs, and chase toys like a champ. Speaking of toys……did someone say TOYS? They’re my absolute favorite! Personality Snapshot: Confident, easygoing and endlessly cheerful Loves everyone—— two-legged and four-legged alike, with a wiggly wiggly butt Professional snuggle (laps, couches, anywhere you’ll let me!) Quiet and crate-trained, sleeping peacefully through the night My Dream Home: I thrive with a gentle, confident doggy friend to help me settle in. Older kids are fine, but little ones can be a bit overwhelming for me. I’m working hard on leash skills (progress not perfection!) and I’m already up-to-date on vaccines. My gorgeous coat will need regular grooming, but trust me — it’s worth it. Daily Life: Snoozing happily in my crate for 6 to 8 hours Signals politely when I need to go outside, (“Hey I’m at the back door!”) Content to be left alone as long as I’m safe in my crate Love’s playtime with my foster sister and cuddling time with my foster mom I’m located in Doylestown Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and I’d love for you to come and meet me in person. I promise to shower you with unconditional love, joy and snuggles for the rest of my life. If you’re ready to welcome a confident, toy-loving, snuggle queen into your heart please apply to adopt me. I’m waiting with a wagging tail and a full heart of love! BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately.
