Story
Meet Kona! Kona just turned 9 in January and he’s a little over 40 lbs. He has no health issues, neutered, and fully up to date on all shots. He’s a poodle mix and is short and long. He’s mostly lazy during the day, loves belly rubs, loves a walk, completely potty trained, knows how to use a doggie to door to let himself out, and can go off leash since he’s such a good listener. He’d make a great companion for a family with no little kids. We got him when he was 4. He came from an abusive home so we knew he had some problems. He’s gotten a lot better over the years but he’s not doing well with our toddler since she started walking. He really does not like people in his face especially as he’s gotten older. We think he would do really well with an older couple or retirees that would respect his space and wouldn’t be in his face or pulling his hair all the time (like little kids). He’s brought so much joy to our lives the past 5 years and he still has a lot of love to give!

He is making amazing progress in his foster home and is ready for the next chapter! The Quick Details: Age/Breed: ~4 years old, Doodle Male House Manners: 10/10! 🌟 Completely trustworthy, non-destructive, and content to just lay at your feet. Cat Friendly: Yes! He doesn't bother the resident cats at all. Skills: Fully crate trained, has excellent recall, and is great on his daily walks. He thrives on a predictable routine! Joey’s Ideal Home: Joey is a sensitive guy. He is highly attached and 100% relaxed with his foster mom, but he is still very guarded and nervous around men and fast movements. Because of this, Joey is looking for: A quiet, calm, and predictable home environment (no loud or hyper households). A home without young children. A patient adopter (ideally female, or a home prepared to let him bond at his own slow pace) who understands that building trust takes time. Once Joey feels safe, his happy-go-lucky, sweet personality really shines. He is a truly loyal companion waiting for the right person to show him the world isn't so scary.
