Story
Remi is just a puppy, yet she has already experienced multiple homes. She was originally rehomed after just three months with her owner because the owner became pregnant. After having at least two owners before coming to us, Remi was incredibly lucky to finally land somewhere safe instead of continuing the cycle of being passed around. Now she is showing everyone exactly what she is: a goofy, loving, energetic young dog who simply wants to belong. Remi is extremely sweet and loves EVERYONE. She has plenty of puppy energy and enthusiasm, and sometimes comes in hot when greeting other animals, but it is all love! She wants to be involved in absolutely everything and will happily follow her people around the house just to make sure she doesn't miss a thing. She LOVES kids, toys, other dogs and even cats. Basically, if you're doing it, Remi wants in! She is incredibly smart, treat-motivated and eager to learn, which makes training both easy and fun. She already knows sit, paw, down and bed/kennel and is continuing to learn every day. She's settling in beautifully and being a true goofy puppy - she has the normal puppy behaviors you'd expect from a young dog, but she is not difficult at all. Remi would thrive with an active person or family who wants a dog to be part of the action. She needs someone who will give her exercise, playtime, enrichment and continued training, while also appreciating her hilarious, affectionate personality. She isn't looking for anything complicated - she just wants a family who will finally make her feel like she belongs. And yes... she apparently already has a little "follow my human everywhere" thing going on. Her foster says Remi is her shadow most of the time, happily tagging along wherever her people go. Remi is adorable, loving, smart, playful and SO ready for a forever family. After being passed around at such a young age, this sweet girl deserves to finally hear the words: "You're home. You're staying." Medical issues: None Good with adults: Yes Good with kids: Yes, LOVES kids! Story
Fritz has an incredible story of resilience. Rescued from a severe hoarding situation in Texas, he survived one of the state's devastating ice storms while living outdoors in heartbreaking conditions. Despite everything he's endured, Fritz has held onto his gentle spirit and is now ready to find the loving family he has always deserved. Fritz is the perfect mix of sweet, quirky, and independent. He may be shy when meeting new people, but once you've earned his trust, he'll quietly seek you out for gentle pets, soft kisses, and companionship. He's not a velcro dog who demands constant attention-instead, he forms deep, meaningful bonds and enjoys being close to his people in his own special way. One of the most endearing things about Fritz is his adorable Schnauzer "talk." Instead of barking, he'll often make the cutest little trilling sounds that are guaranteed to make you smile. His playful personality shines through in these little conversations. While Fritz adores his foster dad, he still has moments where his past experiences show. If his foster mom isn't home, he may choose to hide behind the sofa or hesitate to go into the bedroom at bedtime. He simply needs a patient family who understands that trust takes time and celebrates each little victory. Fritz would thrive with another calm, gentle dog who enjoys quiet companionship rather than rough play. He isn't interested in wrestling matches or chaos-he much prefers peaceful snuggles and relaxed playtime. Because of his past, Fritz is an extremely high flight risk. He must have a securely fenced yard and a family committed to careful management of doors, gates, and outdoor time. A long line in the backyard is recommended, as he can be difficult to catch if he decides he's not ready to come inside. His safety depends on a home that takes escape prevention seriously. For the family willing to offer patience, understanding, and security, Fritz will reward you with quiet loyalty, gentle affection, and plenty of charming Schnauzer chatter. He's proof that even dogs who have experienced the worst can learn to trust, love, and truly blossom in the right home. Medical issues: Successfully treated for heartworms Crate size recommended: 30-36" Good with adults: Yes, but can be shy at first Good with kids: Older, respectful children Good with other dogs: Yes Good with cats: Yes House trained: Yes Crate trained: Yes Energy level: Low to medium Personality: Intelligent, Playful and Inquisitive Can be handled/touched: Yes, but he's very wiggly and doesn't enjoy being picked up Barker: Occasionally, but he's famous for his adorable Schnauzer "trill" sounds Flight risk: YES - Very high flight risk Food aggressive: No Current food: Purina One Walks on leash: Yes, but would benefit from more practice Leash reactive to people or dogs: No Rides well in car: Yes, although he can be a little nervous Destructive: Not destructive, but he may help himself to items left on tables Needs a home with a yard: Preferred Needs a home with another dog: Preferred, with a calm, gentle companion Can live in an apartment: No Please visit our website niagaradogrescue.com to learn more about this amazing pet and to see other available dogs.
