Border Terrier mixes are often known for being affectionate and adaptable companions, while Schnauzer traits can bring alertness, intelligence, and strong family bonds. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Many rescue dogs come from very different backgrounds. Some may have previously lived in homes, while others may have come from the streets, overcrowded shelters, neglect situations, or environments where they had little structure or guidance. Because of this, most rescue dogs arrive with only basic training at best, and some may have had no formal training at all. Even dogs who appear well-behaved in foster care or at the rescue are still adjusting and learning. The rescue environment itself also does not always allow for extensive one-on-one training. While we work hard to provide safety, structure, socialization, and basic guidance, adopters should be prepared to continue training and support after adoption. Pelusa will benefit from: Positive reinforcement training Structure and consistency Continued socialization and engagement Patience during adjustment periods Routine and companionship Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule: 3 days to decompress 3 weeks to learn your routine 3 months to fully feel at home With patience, stability, and commitment, rescue dogs often blossom into deeply loyal lifelong companions. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Owning a dog is a lifelong commitment that includes daily exercise, companionship, routine veterinary care, training, mental stimulation, and financial responsibility. Pelusa will need: Daily walks and interaction Continued training and guidance Routine wellness exams and preventative veterinary care A safe, stable, indoor living environment Although Pelusa was previously vaccinated, medical records are unavailable, so adopters should establish care with their veterinarian promptly to review vaccine schedules and ongoing preventative care. Consistent veterinary care, proper nutrition, preventative care, and emotional stability are all essential to helping her live a healthy and happy life. Pelusa is an indoor family dog and is not to be chained or left outside.
