Story
Meet Alex Whiskerton! This boy is just as unique as his name! He is looking for a special adopter who is familiar with cats who know exactly what they like, and especially what they don't like! To ensure he is the happiest in his home moving forward, he would do best with a patient adopter who understands his specific needs. His side gig is being a contortionist, he will squeeze anywhere his body allows him! He can be a vocal boy, always letting you know how he is feeling. He is looking for someone to spend quiet time with him and allow him to go at his own pace. If Alex Whiskerton sounds like the independent boy you are looking to spend your time with, we would be happy to discuss him with you! The cat you are adopting is very shy. Patience and a gentle approach will be necessary to form a bond and help this cat feel that they are safe in their new environment. This means that the cat is likely to not want to interact with you at first and will need time to settle in and relax. It is likely to take weeks to months for this cat to become comfortable in your home. Even once settled, they may always be a shy cat who runs from visitors. In order to have the best chance at creating a lasting bond with your new cat, you must go at their pace. When you get home, this cat should be set up in one room of your home, with a door that will stay shut while the cat adjusts. They should be offered a variety of foods and plenty of appropriate hiding places to help them feel safe during this transition. The cat should not be let out of their room until they seem like they are making progress and seem to want to explore more of the house. Ready To Adopt? You have two options: #1- VISIT IN PERSON Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available cats in the shelter.
