Story
Yeti came to us with her friend Universe, who is also looking for a home! According to her previous owners, Yeti is everything you could want in a companion—friendly, affectionate, and a true lap cat at heart. If you sit down, she’ll be right there, ready to curl up and keep you company. Yeti loves to cuddle and isn’t shy about telling you so! She’s wonderfully talkative and will happily chat with you throughout the day with her sweet little meows. She thrives on attention, enjoys the company of her people, and absolutely loves pets and snacks. Playtime is also high on her list—she’s a fan of all toys and brings a playful energy to her affectionate personality. She has done well with kids in the past and would likely enjoy a family who can give her plenty of love and interaction. Yeti is nervous around dogs, so a dog-free home (or one willing to go very slow and thoughtful with introductions) would be best for her comfort. If you’re looking for a cuddly, chatty, playful best friend who will happily keep your lap warm and your heart full, Yeti might just be your perfect match. Change is hard for this cat. This cat will be very nervous when you first bring them home. You will need to set up a room with a litter box, food, and water. It will take days for this cat to become comfortable and confident in the new home. This cat will be going home with a behavior plan that will need to be followed in order for everyone to transition successfully. Ready to Adopt? You have two options: #1- VISIT IN PERSON Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available cats in the shelter. (Cats in foster care are not available for in-person visits.) #2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD** If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the cat first, or you’d like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a cat for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. We are often helping other clients when you call, but we return voicemails and emails within 24 hours. **Holds are not available on Saturdays and during adoption events. -------------------------------------------- All cat adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies vaccine -current distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -FeLV/FIV blood test -microchip implanted & registered to the adopter -treatment of fleas/ticks/ear mites -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days after adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Story
Meet Dusty 🌫️Dusty is a beautiful 2-year-old Siamese currently living in a loving foster home. Though she has a bit of a medical history, she is doing well with twice-daily medication to prevent seizures of unknown origin. She's quite smart and may hide when it's time for her meds, but takes it easily once her hiding spot is discovered.Despite this, Dusty is still young at heart and has a playful, curious personality. She enjoys batting around toys and exploring her surroundings, always ready for her next little adventure. Dusty also appreciates the company of other respectful cats; she may take a moment to observe before joining in, but she generally does well with calm, cat-savvy friends. This sweet girl enjoys gentle attention and likes being held and petted — especially when she’s in the mood — before she’s off again to see what’s happening around her. Dusty would do best in a patient, understanding home that is comfortable managing her medication and can appreciate her independent yet affectionate nature. This cat is waiting for it's Forever Home! Email adoptions@ctcatconnection.org with a question or better yet, complete an application for quickest consideration. (Application: https://www.ctcatconnection.org/adoption-application/). Select cats can be fostered instead! Apply on our website.A cat's behavior in the shelter may not be what it will be like in your home; if the cat is nervous, anxious, or agitated, please know that a shelter is a very stressful place for a cat. Most often, in a home, they thrive!Kitten Policy: Kittens must be able to socialize with other young cats or dogs as playmates, as it is important for their development. Therefore, CT Cat Connection has a policy that kittens and teenagers up to 12 months of age are adopted in pairs unless there is another animal in the household as a playmate and companion.Due to demand, we do not place cats or kittens on hold. Your visit to the shelter is to meet all cats or kittens available for adoption at the time of visit. If you or anyone you know is interested in helping the shelter, we are always looking for foster families of our cats and dogs, as well as in-person volunteers, to assist with animal care. Fill out an application, which can be found at https://www.ctcatconnection.org/get-involved/

Story
Ember and Sam are half-siblings and must be adopted together. They're playful with each other and look for pets and affection from people. Children must be at least 8 years old. ****************************************************************** Our adoption process: Prospective adopters must be at least 25 years old and live in Connecticut. You meet the cat(s) in whom you’re interested (we’re a foster-based organization and our cats are in several locations). If after meeting the cat(s) you want to proceed to adoption, we will email our application to you; please return it within 48 hours. We call the animal hospitals you’ve used for a reference and do a home visit by video chat. If you’re approved, you sign an adoption contract, we email the cat’s/cats’ medical paperwork to you, and we meet at the Manchester PetSmart adoption center for you to pick up the cat(s) and receive a coupon booklet from PetSmart. The adoption fee is $260 for single cats and $500 for bonded pairs and must be paid in cash; this includes but isn’t limited to spay or neuter, vaccinations, worming, flea/tick prevention, and microchip.
