Story
You know those dogs you meet with giant heads you can’t wait to squish. Well our Barney would be the perfect candidate for best squish. He is a gorgeous one year old, brindle Mastiff mix, who is as goofy and silly as they come. Barney loves being outside, and can’t wait to go play, or roll around in our yards. He adores company in the yards and we have been looking for a pup who can match his energy. While he loves playing with other dogs, Barney does have some health concerns that have limited his play time and partners. He does need a harness when walking as pressure on his trachea does cause him to cough, sounding like grumbling, even if it’s not. He also has Hip Dysplasia which has him putting in a bit more effort than his counterparts when out and about. This doesn’t stop him though, as he is still young and full of energy. He is always excited when he gets a new toy, and has shown us his defluffing skills on his stuffies. He is not very treat motivated and does better with positive reinforcement. He is happy to roll over and get belly rubs, or try to lay down in your lap. He has no clue how big he actually is! Barney would make a wonderful addition to any family, looking for a sweet, playful, silly big dog. If you are interested in meeting this handsome boy, please fill out an adoption application (no commitment) at Satchelslastresort.org.

Story
Cal is a young, adult male mastiff/coonhound mix looking for a home where he can share all his love. He had a rough start in life as a stray left to fend for himself. He was found by an altruistic person that offered him a temporary home. During this time, it was determined that Cal had likely been struck by a car sustaining a rear leg fracture that healed improperly. Circumstances changed in his foster home and Cal made Satchel's his home. As time passed, it became evident that his broken leg, although healed, was not functioning properly. After extensive medical evaluation, it was determined that the best course of action for a pain free and active life was to amputate the limb. Now, Cal is the fun-loving guy he was always destined to be, running and playing without discomfort. He races about on his three legs, jumps the hurtles in the agility yard and navigates the tube tunnel with more exhilaration than any other dog at Satchel's! Cal feels most comfortable with slow introductions to unfamiliar people but once he chooses a new friend, he is an adoring canine companion. He exudes happiness, jumping with joy when he spots his favorite staff members or volunteers and is most content when being pet by his friends. He is easy to walk, enjoys car rides, and wants to be in close proximity to his loved ones. His new family will likely never sit on the couch alone again! Cal has lived with another canine in the home and has not exhibited any indications that this would not be possible again in the future. For an appointmentto meet him, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website satchelslastresort.org/adopt/

Story
🐾 Carver – Handsome Piebald Great Dane (≈115 lbs) 🐾 Meet Carver, the most perfect, well-socialized Great Dane! He’s a true gentleman who loves people, kids, and strangers alike, making him a dream dog to take everywhere — shopping, breweries, restaurants, or busy public places. Carver currently lives with two female Great Danes that he loves playing with, but he does not need another dog in his forever home — either scenario works for him. He is not reactive to their outdoor cats, though he has not yet been exposed to indoor cats. Carver is gentle, docile, and affectionate 24/7. He loves attention, leans in for cuddles, and always wants to be near his people. He’s potty trained, crate trained, and will even ask to go into his crate for quiet time. A great car rider, he enjoys adventures on the road as much as relaxing at home. On leash, Carver walks wonderfully — though he may get excited when seeing other dogs, which is the only area he could improve. His play style can be a little rough but he calms quickly with guidance. He comes when called, stands still for baths, and doesn’t mind having his paws touched. Carver is comfortable with older kids and would thrive in a family that can appreciate a loving, social Dane. He’s truly one of the easiest Danes we’ve had — yet he hasn’t received a single adoption application! Medical & Adoption Info: Up to date on vaccines, microchipped, neutered, and heartworm negative. Fostered in Plant City. Adoption fee: $250 👉 Apply here: https://www.love4pawsfl.org/adopt
