Story
Young Tiffany was brought to a local pound severely matted by someone who “found” her- since they were able to actually touch and hold her we can only assume she was their dog, as we haven’t gotten that far with her yet 😞. The sedated shave down was the easy part and she’s in good shape physically and we think only about 2 years old, maybe less. Behaviorally, she was all flashing teeth and dramatic kicking and screaming about being picked up or handled or touched. After a couple of weeks of just leaving her alone, she’s starting to calm down, dances and wags her tail for treats and handfeeding, seems interested in squeaky toys, and is allowing minimal brief petting sessions. Every dog progresses at their own pace, and she’s not going to be an instant best friend. Everything must be on her terms. She doesn’t seem crazy about other dogs either, maybe a small calm one she would tolerate but likes her own space. If you have nothing but time and patience and aren’t looking for an instant connection, and a calm adult only home, please email njwoof@cs.com if you are interested in helping Tiffany achieve her full potential. She’s currently fostered in Northern NJ Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. To streamline adoptions, all communication before, during, and after the adoption process is done through email only: we have limited volunteers able to return phone calls. Submit an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com to speed up the adoption process and email any questions to us at njwoof@cs.com. Please check your email regularly for next steps. All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption and we do not have a central shelter location. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.

Story
Isabella, a tiny apricot toy poodle, born on 1/2/22, is a sweet, little angel that was recently rescued. She has some malformed toes on her front feet which could be due to a genetic anomaly. Another story we heard was that portions of her toes froze off while she was living in dreadful conditions in a puppy mill. Either way, it doesn’t seem to be slowing her down as she has no problem walking and running, but this social little girl’s favorite thing to do is to snuggle in your arms. Isabella is just so sweet that it is heartbreaking to think she has had such a difficult life. Isabella is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, tested heartworm negative, and is being kept on heartworm and flea and tick prevention to maintain her good health. Isabella is being fostered in Arkansas. Her adoption donation is $965 which includes the $165 transport fee that we will pay to our transport company, HEARTS LLC. If you would like to adopt Isabella and give her the kind of life this precious little princess deserves, please complete the first step in the adoption process by filling out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers.
