Story
Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home. Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR. We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone. Our job is to find those someone's. Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog. They come to us because they want to give a dog a home. We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture. While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face. Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home. We want to create furever families. Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today. We'll update as more information is known. Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days? If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application. You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side. You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available. Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes? Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email. We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team Date into Rescue: 2/26/25 Reason for being in rescue: Found as stray Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Miata is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. Miata had a massive dental done when she first arrived and may need more teeth removed in the future. Miata was found as a stray so we have absolutely no idea of her lineage. Visually, she is predominantly poodle, but only a DNA test will tell. She is 100% adorable. Weight: 6.80 lbs Height: 12 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $399 Fence needed? Yes! Miata WILL run away if given the chance. She must be leashed when outside unless in a fenced in yard. What kind of home would be best for me? Meet Miata an eight-year-old six-pound toy poodle carved from love and compassion! She has had it hard in her few years on Earth. From being found as a stray in the bustling city of Lexington, SC to having over 7 teeth removed, this girl is looking for peace and quiet in her next stages of life. Miata is NOT looking for children or large dogs, in her new home. Though she coexists well with larger dogs she is easily stepped on and does not stand up for herself. She will be trampled under large dogs even unintentionally. She is looking for another small dog and will ONLY be placed in a home with another small dog. Two small dogs is preferable. Miata is nervous in new places and environments and loud noises are stressful for her. She is looking for a family with experience with the poodle breed AND rescues. Miata WILL run away if given the chance and thus is looking for a home with a fenced in yard. She will NOT be placed in a home without a fence, and she will not be place in a townhome or apartment. Miata has separation anxiety and will cry and bark for you when you leave. Miata is looking for someone who can be home with her and her furry companions MOST of the day. Miata is learning house training but cannot hold herself for more than three hours at a time unless it is overnight. She currently wears diapers throughout the day to help with this. Miata is looking for someone who lets their dogs on the furniture and will let her sleep in the bed at night. She is currently fostered by an employee of CPR and sleeps under his pillow at night. What is my personality like? Miata is a sweet and gentle soul and is looking for someone with a lot of time and patience to let her settle into her new life. She is not a leader by any means and follows her furry companions to a T. Miata was crafted from the salt of the earth and is laid back and calm once she has fully settled in. She can also be the perfect amount of mischievous when left to her own devices. Miata loves to cuddle and constantly wants to be held. She is wonderful in the car and will sleep in your lap the entire drive. Miata is a little snooper and will get into things left to her availability. She has been spotted on the coffee table before. If you can't tell - Miata is well loved! How do I act when I first meet new people? With new people Miata is standoffish and skittish. It will take her three to four weeks to fully warm up to you. Once she has found solace in you, she will gladly let you pick her up and hold her all day. Treats are not the way to this girl's heart. She only trusts in patience and giving her space and time to feel comfortable. Other tips and tidbits: Miata was found as a stray so we have absolutely no history on her. Based on her overall health and condition she is estimated at 8 years old. We celebrate her birthday 02/24/2017. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina. To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. May 15, 2025, 1:53 pm
