At just 5 years old, Bernadette is on the tail end of recovering from a broken leg, which required 6 weeks in a cast. Despite everything she’s endured, she has blossomed into the sweetest, most spirited little girl—and she’s eager to find a home to call her own. Over the past few weeks, Bernadette has come so far. She’s become much more social and confident, loving to meet new people without the fear she once had. She’s learned to enjoy car rides, walks perfectly on a leash, and is so excited to explore the world around her. What really shines through though, is her gentle, loving nature. Bernadette is ready to give her heart to someone who will appreciate how sweet and devoted she truly is. She may be small in size, but Bernadette has a big heartand an even bigger desire to be loved. Carmel Toy Poodle Female Phantom 18 months old 9.5 lbs Meet Carmel – A Shy Beauty with a Heart Ready to Bloom Carmel is a very shy, sweet girl who’s still learning to trust, but with patience, her gentle spirit truly shines. She’s been with her foster for three weeks and still gets nervous when approached, often running away. But once she feels safe, she blossoms into the most loving companion. She’s housebroken and does well on a leash for walks, although she occasionally gets startled by a strong scent and gives a little jump, always keeping things interesting! Carmel needs a fenced yard where she can safely explore and feel secure, especially while she continues building confidence. Carmel gets along well with other dogs and enjoys playtime, even though her senior foster siblings prefer naps over zoomies. She loves toys and will happily entertain herself when the others aren’t in the mood. She has also done well around children, barking when they visit, but never aggressive or trying to get too close. With patience, love, and a calm environment, Carmel will return your care tenfold. She’s a special girl just waiting for the right person to show her the world isn’t so scary. Hello everyone! Meet Ms. Daisy! Daisy is a 9 year old toy poodle who is completely potty trained.Daisy is such a joy and a blessing to be around. My aunt gave Daisy to me about 4 years ago. I remember when I got her I was so happy and excited! I couldn't wait to spend time with her and take care of her. Unfortunately, along the way, my work life became extremely busy and I'm unable to be as home as much. Next year I will also be working and be in nursing school and my time will be ever more scarce for me to spend time with Daisy. I'm looking for someone who can really spend quality time with Daisy, preferably someone elderly with no small children or pets. Unfortunately, Daisy does not like to engage with children and other animals. I am going to sincerely miss my sweet girl but, I can't continue to neglect her with my busy schedule. I look forward to hearing from Daisy's future loving dog parent/ parents.

Meet ROBIN PLEASE READ ENTIRE POST AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION - ROBIN BREED - Toy Poodle/Jack Russell mix SIZE - About 10 pounds AGE - 9 years GENDER - Male MEDICAL CONCERNS - None known BEHAVIOR CONCERNS - None known SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS - Robin is one of two dogs that recently came to us from rural NC. Sadly, an elderly couple owned them and both passed away within a short time span. There was no family able to take in their beloved pets, so they came into rescue. Robin is missing him humans. He lays and cries for them. He seeks human companionship and is happy beside his person or on their lap. Still adjusting to his new normal, he is at first a bit hesitant to warm up, but treats are the way to his heart! We believe that Robin would be well suited in a quiet, predictable home with an adopter who has time to spend with him. Robin is 9 years old and in good health. He has been recently neutered and caught up with all vaccines. A home without larger pets or small children, and with a fenced, secure yard will be sought. He will make a wonderful companion for a senior person who is able to care for him independently. Our adoption process starts with your email to carerescue@aol.com or Adopt a Pet inquiry. After we receive it, we will email you our prescreening questionnaire. Your answers will help us determine that your home and lifestyle matches the needs of Robin and our adoption criteria. Once determined, we will set up a private meeting with you and your family to meet Robin at a park near our private kennel just east of Richmond. After meeting him and determining that he matches your preferences for a pet, we will accept your application. A home visit by one of our trained volunteers is required for all adoptions, and we will speak with your vet to ensure that you are a responsible pet owner.
