Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Belle has made a 360 for the better. She is calm, still a little chatty when she wants to eat or go outside. She willingly gives us kisses and has calmed down 100%. We believe she will need to remain on Prozac since she was so badly neglected the first 4.5 years of her life. She is a different pup and actually has trust in her foster mom now. Prozac is not expensive, only $4.00 per month. She needs a calm home and maybe another pup for her to play with. She is ready to get adopted and go to her forever home. No children please.     UPDATE Belle is now on Prozac daily because of her dislike of females. She was obviously mistreated in her surrenders home and has a dislike for women to the point of biting and being nippy. We have been working with her issues and have seen a difference in her attitude. She is a strong girl and she loves being outside.. Belle will need to go to a home with no children of any age and parents saavy to dog behavior. Belle would do best as an only dog. Belle was brought into rescue as an owner surrender. She is a special pup who was never socialized with people or other domestic animals. She was a frightened little girl for the first month in foster care and would get nippy, never breaking the skin. She has gotten better with time, no more nipping as she now feels safe. Belle is not a pup that likes to cuddle, she is more of a loner, we are letting her come out of her shell on her own, not forcing anything on her. Belle is looking for a home with no children and someone who can be home most of the time. Someone willing to be patient with her and to gain her trust. Belle is potty trained as well as paper trained. She loves her crate, where she feels safe. She is very good when walking with her person. Belle would do best in a home with no other pets. She needs a securely fenced back yard, as she loves to explore. A FENCE IS REQUIRED. We were told that Belle is a ShiPoo, but  doesn't really look like a ShihTzu at all. She looks all poodle and has the long poodle legs.  She is like her name says, Belle- or beautiful.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.September 11, 2023, 1:46 pm

Story
Meet Dino! When you hear the name Dino, do you picture a large, ferocious dinosaur? Well that’s silly, because I’m just the opposite! I’m a teeny tiny 7 pound 12 year old toy poodle with an amusing personality. One of the first things you’ll notice when meeting me is my funny little old man gait. The vet says I have “luxating patellas” which just means my kneecaps tend to pop out of place. Don’t worry, I have likely been this way most of my life, so I have learned to get along just fine! I can’t climb stairs, but have no problem being carried (and I am as light as a feather!) I get along fine with other dogs, big and small. I have not been around cats, but my foster mom thinks that I would be fine there as well - I tend to keep to myself and stay out of my housemates’ way. I would also do best with older kids that aren’t too in my face. Despite my tiny stature, I do have a big voice! I will use it to let you know when I’m hungry, or need to go potty, or just want some attention. I also make the funniest little grumble sounds when you give me scritchy-scratchies…they are my favorite! I have a great appetite and am an excellent napper. I also sleep perfectly through the night. I will go potty every time you take me outside, but sometimes accidents indoors still happen, and that is easily prevented with a little belly band. I am great on car rides and just recently took a ride to get my teeth cleaned - I ended up getting a bunch pulled, so I only have a few left…but my mouth feels so much better! I also am up to date on my vaccinations and have had senior bloodwork done, which looked excellent. It can take me a minute to warm up to new people and situations, but once I get comfortable I am a sweet little companion. While mostly independent, I savor my moments of cuddles and play, and will grumble-grumble my way right into your heart! Albert's Dog Lounge is a specialty rescue focusing primarily on senior and special needs dogs. Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and then a meet and greet with the dog. Adoption fee is $300, ($550 for a pair). Learn more about Albert's Dog Lounge, our mission, and adoption policies by visiting Albertsdoglounge.org. Begin your application process by copying this link into your web browser: https://www.albertsdoglounge.org/apply WI Dept. Of Agriculture License Number: 474085-DS Disclaimer: It is VERY difficult even for a veterinarian to tell the exact age of a dog over two years old. From one vet to another, we can get different age estimates on the same dog and they can vary by several years. We are only making an educated guess based on a few factors like teeth, fur color, and overall body condition, but for dogs who have not been given adequate vet care and food, it can be even more difficult. Every dog is an individual, and we do our very best to age appropriately but make no guarantees as to the age of any dog in our program.
