Story
Hi all, my name is Ozzy. I’m a handsome, 55 lb, 4 year old, loyal Treeing Walker Coonhound with a big heart and a few quirks that make me who I am. My life hasn’t always been easy — I lost my first home after my family had to move and couldn’t take me with them. Thankfully, a kind person took me in and gave me love, training, and stability. Now, due to changes in their life, it’s time for me to find a new forever home that truly fits me. I’m a smart, affectionate, and playful boy. I love to cuddle, make people laugh, and show off how clever I am (I’ve figured out a few tricks to earn treats — shh, don’t tell!). I’m full of personality and love being close to my humans. I’m also great with other dogs, especially calm ones. I am a little vocal, so best is if I live in a house.  That said, I’m still working on some things. I have a protective streak and can get possessive of my space or certain items (especially laundry — it smells so interesting!). I once nipped when someone tried to take something I really valued, but I’ve been working hard with a trainer and making great progress. I just need an experienced, confident owner who will continue my training, give me structure, and help me feel secure. I’m neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. I’m house-trained, love long walks, and enjoy a good nap just as much as a game of fetch. I can be a little anxious in small spaces or around loud noises, so a calm home with room to stretch out would be perfect for me. I may not be perfect, but I’m full of love, loyalty, and potential. With patience, structure, and understanding, I’ll be the most devoted and entertaining companion you could ask for. If you think we could be a match, I’d love to meet you — I’m ready to start my next chapter with someone who truly gets me. Please adopt me! My adoption fee is by donation. ##2550711##

Story
Hello, I'm CHANEL. Here is some info about me:Breed: Beagle / Jack Russell mixAge: 1 year Gender: FemaleWeight: 47 lbCountry of origin: Middle East (Currently in Canada!)Highlight(s): Deaf, Sweet, Cuddly, Smart, Calm, Shy, Funny, Eager to please. UPDATE: I am now here in Canada and ready for my forever home!Settling into this new lifestyle is a big step, especially being deaf.New encounters still make me a bit nervous, but I'm trying my best to be brave every day. Found alone, hungry, and sick in a ditch. It felt like no one wanted a deaf puppy, but a kind lady stepped in to provide the medical care needed to heal. That shaky start led to the gentle, calm girl I am today, ready to give my heart wholeheartedly to a family who accepts me just as I am.Highly intelligent and a very fast learner.Since sound isn't an option, learning sign language together would be a dream.Shyness is common at first, but treats work wonders for gaining confidence.Once comfortable, a silly side emerges to keep everyone smiling, though relaxing in your arms remains the favorite pastime.A quiet, adult-only home is best, as quick movements from children or "meow creatures" can be startling.A fenced yard is essential for feeling safe while enjoying nature.Having another dog around can provide a great boost in confidence during the transition. Energy Level: moderateI get along with:Dogs: yesCats: unknown, rescuer states yes, but no video proofKids: unknown, rescuer states yes, but no video proofPrey drive: moderate, not observed with squirrels, rabbits, etc... My adopter neds to be prepared to obtain assistance should this behavior occur. Fears: none observed. Please be patient assisting me in my transition.Training: Leash skills: some. Please be prepared to continue training.House trained: yes, Please help me learn where to go in my new home. Health notes: I am deaf.I am spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is $700.00 CAD plus applicable taxes.  Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. [MID-EAST] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.[TURKEY] Dogs from Turkey receive a 4D SNAP test to include Heartworm, Ehrlichiosis, Leishmania and Anaplasmosis. ##2323778##
