*Coonhound*8 yrs old; 70lbs*Lovely old timer who is chill, kind and in desperate need of a soft spot to rest his elderly bones. Dog friendly. Visually impaired. Sibling is Napoleon.Our most regal, elegant, old timer hound LAFAYETTE has worked hard his whole life only to wind up with no place to call home in his golden years.  About 8 yrs in age,  Lafayette looks pretty worn and elderly but his spirit and kindness still shine through and he`s hoping YOU will come and discover it!!  Lafayette is working hard on regrowing his coat (flea dermatitis ravaged it) and clearing up the infection in his eyes (they are green goopy).   He struggles a bit in seeing but still gets around like the champ he is.  Gently guiding him on a leash and avoiding potential obstacles allows him to still enjoy one of his greatest sources of joy...scents, whiffs and smells!  Oh, the hound in him!!  Otherwise,  he`s perfect in every way and has plenty of love and companionship to offer his last and final family.  He seems fine with other dogs and graced with a very carefree, laissez-faire attitude, it might seem nothing at all bothers him. Our gentle man hopes soon you will come for him so he can learn the ropes in your home.  Navigating the shelter maze, noise and energy is a lot to ask of him.  Hound lovers wherefore art thou??   Lafayette needs you!!  Note:  He`s here with sibling Napoleon who also has skin issues but appears to have much better vision.  Very similar personality/feel.

*Coonhound*8 yrs old; 54lbs*Very sweet, kind natured, old timer. Loves going and doing and catching that special whiff! Open to other dogs. Sibling is Lafayette.What a magnificent, old timer hound!! You`ll find a good friend with senior NAPOLEON by your side.   Our handsome fella thought he was set to kick back and enjoy his golden years and then, just like that,  he suddenly no longer had a home.  He and his sibling Lafayette both in fact lost the only home they had known after 8yrs of faithful service.   Very sweet and kind natured, Napoleon may look a little more serious but he`s a very easy going, chill, care free fella.  His coat has been ravaged due to flea dermatitis (he`s on meds to restore it) and his eyes are a bit green/goopy but meds will address that discomfort for him.  He has a very crusty appearance due to the yucky fleas, but rest assured, he`s all soft and appealing on the inside!  Napoleon does not ask for much.   He still very much enjoys going and doing and exploring and of course, discovering new scents and whiffs bring a tremendous amount of joy to this dear older doggy.   Open to other dogs, Napoleon is a true friend to all and would only request that he`s not waiting too long to finally rest his head and weary bones on a big soft bed in his new home.   Wherefore are the hound lovers to whisk this great boy to a life of comfort and leisure in his elder years?  Napoleon needs YOU!

Excellent with other dogs.Our friendly faced, active boy TRACKER `nose` how to get the job done!!  This handsome fella has never met a stranger and oh, what fun the 2 of YOU will have exploring new trails and going and doing!  Like any self respecting hound,  he`s a real sniffer and it`s a rarity that his nose is not pointing upwards hoping to catch that next scent and or email from another animal.   Tracker has done well in doggy play groups and he`s a real natural hanging out with a good mix of doggies.  When he`s checked out some of the fresh scents in our play yard,  count on our amiable fella to come over and perhaps give you a wet nose smooch.  With his tri-colored coat,  welcoming aura and a desire to socialize and be in the thick of things,  Tracker will keep you on your toes and push you to stay active and engaged with everyone/thing around you.  What an appealing fella.  Ask for Tracker today.

Meet Tonks! Tonks is a little shy but wants to be your BFF with time. Tonks is a Treeing Walker Coonhound, Labrador Retriever mix who was born on 09/03/2020. When she came to TLC she was nervous but deep down, Tonks is a gentle pup and we know that she could live the very best life with an owner who has the time and patience to show her that there is so much kindness out there.Tonks` adoption fee is sponsored so that covers her spay, microchip, Rabies vaccine, DAPP vaccines, Bordetella vaccine, heartworm test (Tonks is negative!), and she is up to date on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. If you`d like to meet Tonks, feel free to fill out an adoption application at tlchs.org or you are welcome to make a match making appointment to come out and meet her. We are open Tuesday through Sunday from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.

Meet Boone Boone is an absolutely stunning young dog. We rescued him from a high kill shelter. We think Boone is a Plott hound mix, possibly Tennesee Treeing Hound based on his overall looks and ears. He came in to us as an older puppy and sadly, he is still with us after over five years. Boone is almost 6 years old and is 57 lbs of muscle and heart. Since arriving Boone has been a gentleman dog. He’s really friendly. He’s energetic, but it’s not frenetic activity. Boone is polite and rather calm, especially considering how long he has been confined to a shelter. He walks great on a leash, and loves being out of his kennel to enjoy the companionship of his person. Boone will make for a great hiker. This breed is known for its stamina, endurance and agility. They can be all business and focused when working or engaged in training, but when at home they are mellow and enjoy the downtime. Boone is definitely a staff favorite and our hearts are broken that he has been with us so long. Boone is smart and alert. He will do best in an active home where he is physically and mentally occupied. He seems to like other dogs and but is not a fan of cats. Boone hopes to get his chance to go home, and he is going to make for a wonderful companion and will be loyal to his people. If you are looking for a fun, sweet and active boy, not to mention incredibly handsome, Boone may be the one for you.
