Story
Winnie is a 5 year old tri-colored treeing walker coonhound. She is 62 pounds and is ready for a forever home.  She is a very sweet girl that just wants to be near her people and please them. She is full of energy and enjoys running and playing with toys. Winnie would do best with another dog as she has shown a lot of enthusiasm in her foster home with playing with other dogs. She does ok in her kennel when her foster's aren't  home and they actually can leave her to roam and she doesn't bother or tear anything up. She loves other dogs and people, including children as young as 3 years old, but is not good with cats. She is potty trained. She loves going for car rides. Winnie does bark some when she is outside, she has the typical hound bark! She would do best with a very secured fenced yard to run out her extra energy as she is a digger and an escape artist. She is ok on a leash but tends to pull as she has her nose to the ground most of the time and if she gets on a scent. Winnie sleeps on the couch overnight or in her fosters bedroom. She is a great dog, she just needs some continued training with manners.  Winnie's adoption fee of $300 helps cover her spay, vaccines, microchip with registration, heartworm test, flea preventions, and heartworm preventions. To make her a part of your family, please apply at gfrpets.org/apply ##1828874##

Story
Beau is ready to retire out of shelter life! Beau is a spunky senior who enjoys walks and singing a little song for those who will listen. Unfortunately, Beau's owner passed away leaving Beau without his family or a place to go. We promised Beau that when he arrived we would find him the best home to live out his glory days in. If you are a hound lover, open your heart to Beau! All Pet Central animals are up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations, spayed or neutered, microchipped (registration included), and current on parasite prevention. Dogs over six-months of age are heartworm tested. When adopting, we will ensure that you receive copies of veterinary and microchip records. Records are sent via email. Paper versions are available upon request. If you are interested in this pet, please fill out the brief Adopter Survey by hitting "Apply for Adoption" on the profile above. After we review your completed survey, we will contact you by phone or email within three business days. Please note- Out of respect for our volunteers and staff, we are closed on Sunday and Monday and will not be processing any applications on those days. Please get back to us right away when we call or email regarding an application so that we can quickly connect using the process below: Select a pet and submit an online adoption survey. A PCH! adoption counselor will contact potential adopters within three business days (PCH! cannot guarantee any pet's availability, but we make every effort to accommodate adopters with a reply and possible alternative suggestions). An adoption counselor and client will then have a conversation to answer questions, discuss any medical needs for the pet and determine the suitability of a match (if necessary, we may opt to put adopters in touch with foster parents). After a match is made, clients will be asked to sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee online through our secure payment system *Please see our modified no-risk return policy. (below) The PCH! adoption counselor will then set up a specific appointment time and location. Adopters should bring a pet carrier and/or a leash to pick up and their ID. Adult pets will be wearing a collar. It is important that clients arrive on time, neither early nor late. Cats and kittens are required to leave in a pet carrier. If your adoption is scheduled at Pet Central Helps!: Upon arrival inside the Crossroads Center complex (360 Wylie Drive), look for the black Pet Central Helps! semi-trailer, which is right outside of our facility (Suite 720). Park in the parking lot and enter the facility. A PCH! representative will greet you and show you to the adoption room. Your new pet will be handed to you. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. If your adoption is scheduled at PetSmart – Bloomington, IL: Park in the PetSmart (1606 E. Empire St.) Parking lot and enter the store. We will be set up just inside the store entrance. Let us know you are here to pick up your pet! A PCH! representative will confirm your information and hand you your pet. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. If your adoption is scheduled at the Cat’s Meow Cafe: Navigate to PetSmart, park in the parking lot and enter the store. Locate a PCH! Representative at our adoption table and let them know you are picking up a Cat Cafe Cat. You will sign your final contract with your counselor and snap a picture of the completed screen. Head to the Cat’s Meow Cafe at 507 N. Hershey Rd and provide them with the snapshot of your final contract. They will get your cat and take a “Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. PCH! supports a 30-day no-fault return policy in which adopters are given the opportunity to find a better match. If we cannot provide advice/tools to keep a pet in the home we offer these options: Exchange for a pet that may be a better match** Receive a refund minus a $40 processing fee** With this approach, we can often turn mismatches into opportunities! Thank you, Pet Central Helps!

Story
Meet Maggie! She is a real sweetheart and just wants love from everyone. Maggie is thought to be 6 years old, she was a stray so her age is a guess. Maggie came to us quite thin but looks great now and weighs 25 pounds. She is definitely a beagle but has a longer body so is likely mixed with bassett hound. Maggie is a calm and quiet girl. She does have the typical nose to the ground and is happiest sniffing around the fenced yard and letting us know if there is a critter nearby. Maggie co-exists fine with the other dogs in her foster home but doesn't interact with them much, she seeks out the people. We have not had Maggie around cats. She does need some consistency to reinforce good potty habits. She is good in a kennel, good on a leash, and enjoys going bye bye.  Maggie's adoption fee of $300 covers her spay, microchip with registration, heartworm treatment, vaccines and flea/tick/heartworm prevention. Please apply at gfrpets.org/apply/adoptdog/ ##2352961##
