You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hey there, my name is Lial!! I’m a 1 yr old Hound Mix and I weigh about 55lbs. We don’t actually know my birthday but once we find each other, we can celebrate gotcha day instead, which is also pretty special. A little about me, I’m crate trained, dog door trained, and do well on a leash. I know Sit and am learning how to shake. I love learning new commands and building stronger bonds with my people. In addition to my love for learning, I enjoy a good game of chase with other doggos or a good chew toy to pass the time. I like bear hugs and my fav snack is blueberries. I also appreciate a good snuggle, that is if you’re into that lol. So my foster mom calls me her Lovable Lial. She says I have a one of a kind personality, that she’s never met a dog like me and that I always make her laugh. If you give me a chance, I’m sure I’ll make you smile. I’m just a goofy boy who would love nothing more than a cozy bed and some belly rubs. She will greet you patiently with a wagging tail at the front door. Peppy fits her name perfectly. There is plenty of pep left in this old girl, all she needs is a loving home to share it with where she can enjoy her senior naps. She is good with dog savvy cats, she is amazing with children, and she is good with canine pals who aren't overly exuberant. A home with few or no stairs would be the ideal for this old girls hips. Anyone who gives this sweet girl a loving home for her final years will receive the gift of many cherished memories. Might that be you? Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. Story
Trixie is a special needs basset. Rescued dogs frequently arrive with a lot of unanswered questions. We and our vets think Trixie was born with a condition called Cerebellar Hypoplasia or CH. A part of her brain did not fully develop leaving her with balance issues, difficulty judging distance, and clumsiness to the point where walking is really not an option for her. Even with all her challenges, she is able to get around the house and navigate a couple of steps. She can pretty much get anywhere she wants to go. After trying Trixie in both a 2- and 4-wheel cart, we have started to investigate a modified cart specifically for CH dogs. She is too wobbly to use the 2- and 4-wheel carts. Aside from this condition, Trixie is happy and healthy. She does great with other dogs (although she doesn't play) and is expected to have a normal lifespan. Our vet suggests that her coordination could benefit from some regular physical therapy. We plan to start that just after the first of the year when things slow down a bit. Cash is a troubled young basset hound. In spite of his handsome exterior, he is full of issues. We're not sure what his background was like but he is reactive to any kind of discipline. He will require a very seasoned dog owner; a patient person to be able to safely handle this guy. He will need someone that can read his body language and respond accordingly. He can be sweet and loving or suddenly feel challenged and react with hostility. Absolutely NO CHILDREN.
