Meet Sloane
Sloane is a 7-year-old Walker Hound mix with a gentle heart and the sweetest soul. After making the journey from Georgia to Wisconsin with Mutt Life Dog Rescue, she’s settled beautifully into foster care and is ready to find the forever family she’s been waiting for.
Inside the home, Sloane is wonderfully calm and easygoing. She’s happy to be near her people, quietly observing the action from her favorite cozy spot.
Outside is where her hound instincts come alive! She enjoys leisurely walks with plenty of time to follow interesting scents and explore the world with her nose leading the way.
Sloane takes a little time to warm up to new people and situations, but once she feels safe, her playful, goofy personality begins to shine. She has a few playful bursts throughout the day, enjoys romping with the resident dog, and if you let her, she’ll happily curl up beside you like a 60-pound lap dog.
She’s housebroken, crate trained, rides beautifully in the car, and has excellent leash manners. Sloane recently enjoyed a weekend up north and loved exploring the woods on long walks.
She gets along well with other dogs, especially calm companions, and does great with children. While she’s very interested in the scents of small animals, she walks politely on leash and doesn’t chase them. Because of her hound instincts, she is not a good fit for a home with cats or other small pets.

ADOPTION PROCESS:
1.) Apply: Fill out adoption application completely and submit all necessary documents.
2.)Application Decision: approved applicants will be notified via phone call and email.
3.)Foster-to-Adopt Trial Period: after approval, you have the opportunity to do a meet and greet and bring your dog home! You get a 5 day foster-to-adopt (FTA) period to make sure it's the right fit.
4.) Final Decision: By the end of the FTA period, please let us know your final decision to adopt or return the dog to our rescue.
5.) Home Visit: After the adoption process we conduct a home visit either in person or via zoom meeting to ensure that everything is going well with the transition and to answer any final questions you may have.
6.) Neuter/spay for puppies: for dogs who are not fixed at the time of adoption, we will reimburse $125 for the procedure once we receive proof of spay/neuter. We recommend going to HAWS Snip Clinic in Waukesha, WI or Wisconsin Community Veterinarian Center in Madison, WI for the most affordable option. If you would like to go through your veterinarian or another location, that works too!
**Note: Adoptions are not considered final until the dog is neutered/spayed if applicable**
