June recently completed heartworm treatment and spent months waiting for the day she could finally search for a home of her own. Now that she’s ready, she’s hoping someone sees the beautiful dog she truly is. She’s excellent with other dogs and has been one of our go-to temperament testers because she’s calm, friendly, and able to get along with everyone. And when she’s excited? After her long trip north, she is enjoying the opportunity to relax, decompress, and begin the next chapter of her life surrounded by comfort and care. Sloane is a 7-year-old Walker Hound mix with a gentle spirit and an easygoing personality. This sweet southern girl has earned a reputation for her calm demeanor and appreciation for life's simple pleasures. Whether she's taking a leisurely stroll with plenty of time to stop and sniff or relaxing quietly with her people, Sloane is happiest when she can enjoy companionship and a slower pace of life. Shelter staff described Sloane as a very sweet, mellow dog who was always a pleasure to be around. Her foster family is already getting to know her and helping her settle into a routine while learning more about her personality in a home environment. Sloane is housebroken, dog friendly, and does well with children. She tends to prefer calm canine companions over energetic or rough playmates. As a typical hound, she enjoys following scents and has a strong interest in small animals, so she is not a fit for homes with cats or other small pets. Foster update on Sloan (June 8) - she's low- key in the house. Sloan likes being near the action but not in it(unless it's on her terms) she finds her spot and relaxes until she gets to go outside. She needs time to warm up but when she does she's a sweet goofball who can be skittish at times. While she may recognize scents of small mammals and birds she does NOT chase after them while on leash. She gets in a playful mood a couple times throughout the day and plays well with the resident dogs. Sloan is great in the car. She enjoyed a weekend up north and her many walks in the woods. Sloan doesn't know many commands yet(we will keep working on them) but her adorable puppy eyes can make you forget what you asked her to do in the first place. Ace is a young hound mix under a year old with a calm, thoughtful personality and just the right balance of adventure and downtime. He enjoys exploring the woods, sniffing around trails, and hanging out near the water, but he is not nonstop hyper or chaotic. After some fun and activity, he settles down nicely. Ace is great with other dogs and with cats. He can be a little shy when first meeting new people, but once he feels safe, he becomes incredibly sweet, affectionate, and loyal. He is the kind of dog who forms real bonds instead of instantly demanding attention from everyone he meets. He would do great with someone who wants an active companion for walks, exploring, road trips, or outdoor time, while still wanting a dog that can relax and coexist peacefully at home afterward. Currently in Oklahoma but can be adopted to approved out-of-state homes via transport. If an adoption does not work out (rare, but life happens), I always take my dogs back. Lady is being fostered in TX. HI! I am delighted that you are interested in knowing more about me! I am about 3 months old*. My absolute passions are EAT, MOVE and Cuddle! In fact, among my many super pawers is my super sense of smell, so I became highly excited when smelling delicious foods around me! My foster mamma and I are working hard to learn how to harness this super power! My second super power is my high level of energy and my strong curiosity, I guess that makes three super powers, isn’ it? If you don’t give me a job to do, I will find it on my own! So it is very important for me that you become my guiding light. Yet, I also want you to be soft and cuddle with me in quiet times, since I actively look for bonding, reassurance, and safety. I am good with kiddos, but I will prefer kiddos 6+ since I - for now - get excited and might scratch them by accident. Also, I highly benefit from tolerant and playful siblings who can help me balance when the puppyhood zoomies come! Did I tell you that I am already potty trained? YUP!!! I am proudly potty trained. Regarding my eyes, I have Microphthalmia which “is a congenital condition where one or both eyeballs are abnormally small” on my right eye. My foster momma is seeing a little cloudiness on my left eye*, so I am going to visit an eye specialist in mid August. However, I have not presented any issue navigating the house, jumping the stairs, or avoiding any obstacles in the backyard. I am sure my foster momma will update any relevant info after our appointment. Are you ready to love me? * By the time of this writing on July 2nd.
