Hello... I'm Emily Pickles, and I need to tell you something important right from the start. My world turned upside down when my beloved human passed away. I found myself living in a dog crate, scared and angry at everything, not understanding why my safe life had disappeared. I was so frightened that I hissed and growled at anyone who came near - it was the only way I knew how to protect myself when I felt so vulnerable. You see, I'm front declawed, which means I can't defend myself the way other cats can. When you've lost your claws and then lost your whole world, everything feels dangerous. But my foster family has been incredibly patient with me, and slowly - so very slowly - I'm remembering that humans can be trustworthy. Here's what's changed: I have discovered the absolute magic of Temptations treats. When those crinkly packages come out, something in me relaxes. I've even learned to let my foster human pet my head while I eat them, and sometimes... sometimes I surprise myself with a little purr. It feels good to purr again. I'm much calmer now than when I first arrived. I have my special chair - MY chair - and I love my food routines. These predictable comforts help me feel secure. But I need you to know that I'm still learning to trust. I decide when I want affection, and sudden movements still frighten me. Some days I'm ready for gentle pets, other days I need my space, and that's just how I am right now. I'm looking for someone who understands that healing from trauma takes time - maybe months, maybe longer. Someone who won't rush me or take my cautious moments personally. Someone who sees my progress in small victories: the day I purr during treats, the evening I don't run when you move slowly around my chair, the moment I choose to sit near you instead of hiding. If you're the kind of person who believes that earning a traumatized cat's trust is one of life's most meaningful achievements, and you have the patience to let me set the pace, I might just be your girl. Hello there... my name is Andre. I'm the white cat with a few distinctive black marks who's currently watching you from my favorite hiding spot. Please don't be offended if I don't come right over—I'm still learning that not all hands reach out to hurt. My story isn't an easy one to tell. Before arriving here, I didn't know what safety felt like. Each sudden movement made me flinch, each loud noise sent me running. The world can be overwhelming when you've been taught to fear it. Some days, I still do. I dream of a quiet home where I can take my time. A patient person who understands that trust isn't built in days but in gentle moments—a soft voice reading a book nearby, a treat placed where I can reach it when I'm ready, no pressure to be anything but exactly who I am. If you have another kind cat at home, that might help me adjust. I do enjoy feline company when they're respectful of my boundaries. We could become good friends, sharing sunbeams and whispered secrets about the birds outside. Speaking of windows... a sunny spot where I can watch the world safely would mean everything to me. And canned food? Well, that's one thing that always brings me a moment of joy, even on my most anxious days. I can't promise when—or even if—I'll ever curl up in your lap or greet you at the door. Some scars remain invisible but run deep. What I can promise is that having a safe home, regular meals, and quiet respect will make me happier than you can imagine, even if I show it in ways you might not expect. They say I'm a little work of art with my striking black and white fur. My caretakers tell me I look like I've been dusted with ashes from a cozy fire – that's how I got my name! I'll be honest with you – I'm a bit shy at first. When new friends come to visit, you might find me watching carefully from my favorite hiding spot. But don't let that fool you! Once I decide you're trustworthy (and especially if you have treats), my true personality shines through. Speaking of treats... did someone say FOOD? My ears perk up instantly at the sound of a can opening or kibble hitting my bowl. My foster mom says I have the most enthusiastic "dinner dance" she's ever seen! When I'm not dreaming about my next meal, you'll find me scaling new heights. Curtains, bookshelves, cat trees – they're all part of my personal mountain range. I'm still perfecting my dismount, but my climbing skills are already Olympic-worthy! What I'm really looking for is a patient family who understands that the best relationships take time to build. Someone who'll give me space when I need it, but who'll also dangle that feather toy when I'm ready to play. I promise that once I open my heart to you, the purrs and head-bumps will be worth the wait. Could your home be the forever one I've been searching for? Morgan is her given name, but she has so many nicknames that she can barely keep track! Marilyn Monroe & Cindy Crawford are her favorites, because they highlight the gorgeous beauty mark that she shares with them. She also goes by Betty Crocker, because she loves to make biscuits all day long- even air biscuits! Lastly is Roly Poly, because she just loves to roll onto her back to show you her tummy while you pet her head. She is also a big purrer, and will start up her motor the second she sees you. She's a little shadow, and just wants to roll around right beside you. If you're in the same room as her, she'll be next to you or right at your feet. She'll also put her little paws on your chest to get eye to eye with you and say hello with her little meows! Morgan is a very chill, sweet girl who would do well in a home as an only pet with another calm kitty. Morgan was born July 17, 2022.
