Meet Zion, the Vizla Sighthound mix puppy! Zion is the product of an accidental litter. His mother is a Viszla and dad is a sight hound. These puppies have primarily lived outdoors in their previous home. They have lived with children under 12 years old, teens, men and women. They are friendly with people. Typical to pups their age, they would bark when left alone but did better when music was playing and they had toys to interact with. They have been around their mama dog and some family chickens. They are curious about the chickens and mostly stay away but would sometimes chase them to try to get them to play with them. Zion is looking for an active person who is wanting a sidekick. He will likely be a medium to large breed dog with LOTS of energy. If you are looking to get your steps in this New Year with a canine by your side – consider meeting Zion (or one of the siblings) today!The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw!Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.

Say hello to Holly!   When you adopt Holly you get Christmas all year long and, who doesn't want a redheaded friend?   Holly is a 15month-old, 42-lb girl who is even tempered and mild mannered but very affectionate with people and dogs.  She will probably be around 45-50 lbs when she is fully grown.   She was found in a box with 4 siblings with children who were trying to find someone who would take them so our foster did.   Holly lives with large and small dogs and does well with them.  She is training on a leash currently but is pretty easy going so learning well.  She is affectionate and sweet.  She is waiting for her family to find her and bring her home.   Because of her color and height she could have some Dachshund and/or Vizsla in her because she is low to the groundso definitely a mix with something else.  She has a sweet face and is very cooperative.   Please go to our website:  4dogsfarmrescue.org/Available-dogs.html to see video of Holly.  If you want to find out more about her, or are interested in adopting, the applicaiton is at 4dogsfarmrescue.org/Adoption.html Holly will come to you spayed and fully vetted.
