Meet Tate: professional people hugger, certified “Patient of the Day,” and living proof that life doesn’t always go according to plan…but it can still be awesome. 1.5 year old Tate was adopted and thought he had his happily ever after, but after being diagnosed with mild hip dysplasia, he found his way back to us. We left no stone unturned - multiple veterinary consults, X-rays, and enough poking and prodding to earn him Patient of the Day at the vet. (He accepted the honor with tail wags and kisses.) His X-rays even revealed old birdshot pellets scattered through his back legs from sometime before rescue, but the good news? The specialists all agree that right now, Tate just needs an inexpensive otc joint supplement and to keep doing what he loves most: being a happy dog. And happy is exactly what he is. At nearly 70 pounds of pure Lab-energy, Tate believes everyone is his new best friend. Dogs? Love ‘em. Kids? Absolutely. Strangers? Give him 30 seconds and he’ll probably be sitting in their lap. He lives for tennis balls, snacks, and convincing everyone he’s actually a 10-pound lap dog. Tate doesn’t need a perfect body - he just needs the perfect family.
