Hola!! Mi amo Winona, como esta??? I am doing pretty well! Except I am still looking for my furever family.... :( I was found as a very very young puppy, with my siblings on the side of the road. No one knows where my mama is... unfortunately in the south LOTS of "people" would rather kill the product of unaltered female and male dogs than actually just get them spayed and neutered......... and very likely that is why we were left so carelessly on the side of a road at 2 weeks old.... just to die... Anyway, off my soapbox because so so many people and rescues in the south are working hard to overcome stupidity and do the right thing so it doesn't happen to other pups! I am a sweet and really gorgeous girl. My siblings and I looked very pittie and weimaraner size/temperament and personality wise. I have a gorgeous apricot colored coat with some blonde highlights (the kind you get at a fancy hairdresser :), mine were FREE :) I am now 3.6 yrs old and in my maturity I have stopped all the puppy antics- no chewing, barking, digging, peeing or pooping all over the place for me!! i am well mannered, will hang out with you while you work and then we can go for a walk or a run and then binge watch Masterchef (I LOVE ME some GORDON RAMSAY!!) until we get sleepy! That is my ideal day, so if you are down for hanging out with me all the time, fill out the adoption application and just give me happy and loving home please!! Dieter is an absolutely incredible and gorgeous Weimaraner! He possesses a truly remarkable balance between energetic playfulness and blissful `chill mode.` His disposition is nothing short of lovely – he is incredibly sweet, cuddly, and enjoys nothing more than curling up close to you, preferably snuggled right on top of you! He`s a fantastic sleeper and loves attention.Dieter is fully crate-trained, but he doesn`t need to be confined. He has full access to his foster`s house. He is exceptionally smart, picking up new things very quickly. He walks quite well on a leash, and is currently working on maintaining consistency to prevent any pulling. He loves his dog toys and never chews on anything he shouldn`t. Dieter is exceptionally friendly with people and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. He seems largely unconcerned with cats, but squirrels are a different story – he loves observing them from the window and often patrols the trees in the yard. Ideally, he would thrive in a home with a securely fenced yard or an owner who is enthusiastic about providing him with plenty of opportunities for exercise; another dog would be a wonderful addition, but it`s not essential. Dieter is simply an outstanding dog, and his future family will be incredibly fortunate to welcome him into their lives.This is a Pay It Forward dog. 5 y/o spayed female Weimaraner (Annie) born 09/2020 needing to be re-homed.  She has been living in a house with 2 small children (4 y/o and 2y/o), a 9 y/o female Doberman and 2 cats. She has been aggressive with the Doberman since being a puppy and is territorial. Does not bother cats.  Since getting her as a puppy we have tried multiple training courses. One where she was sent away. This was unsuccessful as they tried to crate train and she has terrible separation anxiety so she would scream and distract the other dogs in training- She was sent home after 5 days.  We also tried two in home training courses which were unsuccessful. We have even tried a year of medication recommended by the vet to help with separation anxiety and her aggression towards our other dog which did not make a difference.  We have had a few incidents where she gets aggressive with people leaving our house through the front door and has snipped at two people. She would be best if she was the only dog in home

Click here for Mae's Facebook Album August 2025: I was contacted about 2 Pointers that were in need of help in the Benton, Illinois area. I was told they were saved from being killed by a hunting preserve. The whole story is rather vague and I heard there were actually 4 dogs. Mae is a sweet Lemon Pointer about 3-5 years old. She's been bred A LOT, and is a typically loving dog with people. Mae has some dental issues that will need to be addressed when she is spayed. She also has an Umbilical hernia that can also be repaired at that time. Her ears were full of brown crud and a little infected- but she is doing great now. We have also switched her to a lamb based diet now. Mae did test positive for Rocky Mountain spotted fever and she is doing well with antibiotic treatment that is helping her underlying anemia. Click here for Scout's Facebook Album November 2025: Scout is the pretty little GSP that was found near Des Plaines Conservation area after having been dumped. It's a long story- but she is safe and finishing up her heat cycle. Scout tested positive for Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever and both tick borne diseases can affect a dog's ability to scent birds in the field. When I met Scout my first thought was that she was in LA LA LAND. A little goofy-- could be hormones too. She did great at the vet however for her blood draw and her exam. We are looking for a Foster to Adopt family in the Chicago area because she can't be spayed until mid January to let her hormones settle down and to do some consistent treatment for her Lyme and RMSF. We know NOTHING about her hunting ability and not sure we will be able to test her nose on birds so I am looking for a pet home for now and a fenced in yard is MANDATORY. Click here for Elvis's Facebook Album March 18: Elvis' dental and neuter are done. He did well, lost 4 teeth and we are doing a biopsy on his potential scrotal tumor. What a sweet boy, that just needed some TLC. With heartworm slow kill, we'll test at 8 months and see where he is at, hopefully he'll be negative by then, but oftentimes it takes longer. We are taking our time with him especially since he is also infected with Ehrlichia, Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever. Glad he came to IBR otherwise that would have been missed. We are looking for a foster or foster to adopt home for him in the Chicago area with a safe fenced in yard. Heartworm slow kill treatment is super easy and so much easier on the dogs we rescue. Our adoption or foster app can be found at www.helpibr.org March 2025: Elvis was left outside the city jail in a cage in Tompkinsville, KY a few weeks ago. The jail is sometimes used as the local humane society. He was in terrible shape, extremely thin and frightened. We worked for a few weeks to line up transport and in that time it was discovered that Elvis was infected with heartworms and he had a sore on his testicles. The great folks in Kentucky got his vaccinations done and also got him started on heartworm slow kill. In between some nasty weather, and some plane electrical problems, Elvis was driven to Louisville, KY and then flown to the Chicago suburbs by Captain David Tan. His latest exam and bloodwork shows that Elvis is also fighting 3 tick borne diseases- Ehrlichia, Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever. We got a closer look at his teeth- which were in terrible shape and Elvis also has an enlarged testicle besides a cyst. This poor dog has suffered some terrible neglect but while we are in the search for a longer term foster, he is being cared for and loved on by our good friends at Tail Gate for Dogs in Elmhurst. As Dr. Rimkunas didn't rule out testicular cancer, I have his neuter and dental set up for March 18th and we could really use some donations to help with his ongoing medical care.
