Story
Nibs (The bravest lost boy from Peter Pan) has now been with his foster for 10 months. Nibs was found emanciated with his hips, ribs and spine showing and never claimed. He was only 4 months old. Over time his behavior was thought to just be due to him being a puppy but overtime it has been determined that Nibs is deaf. Nibs although deaf has learned a lot from being in a foster home. His is a big goof ball, bundle of love, always tail wag and loves to lean into you for pets. With his lack of hearing he does great. He would not make a great guard dog, as he doesn't bark to the noises outside or the commotion going on around him. His bark means...I have to potty. I am hungry. Or I see you, I love you, I want some cuddles & play please. Nibs does have a couple things that make him nervous.....my linoleum slick flooring in my kitchen. He will walk on it but he gets super scared when leashed to be walked across. Ceiling fan shadows make him nervous because he doesn't easily take notice of when the shadows moving are coming from. When he meets he wants to see you, smell you, then love on you. He isn't the dog that licks, he is rarely the dog that jumps (unless playing fetch) but he will lean right into you for pets and butt scratches. He also is not a large lap dog...he likes to be lazy but not on top of you but next to you. He will plop himself down anywhere...just not on top of you. He also is constantly looking for his people, when I am in the yard with him he is watchful or following. He fetches but hides it, so have a few toss toys. He loves sqeeky toys. While he is deaf there are things he takes notice to...I just cannot replicate. The raccoons in the sewers have him doing circles wondering what's happening, some sqeeky toys, some dogs barking on walks in their houses. But we use hand signals. He will sit, lay down, go (pointing to crate/outside/downstairs/etc) and come...we are working on no/stop. As for cats he is curious(one of mine will chase him into a corner scared while my other he likes to paw and sniff at. Other dogs he loves but he will play hard and not easily understand their verbal cues. Mine will give him a single back off nip when she is done playing. Nibs is amazing , he recognizes smells and is super visual and he will do anything for food. Story
Knotty is is a sweet 3 year old, 65 lb, Catahoula/Shepherd mix. She is a nervous girl who is working on building her confidence and trust in her foster home. She would do best in a forever home where her new family will give her time, patience and love. Knotty can be a bit nervous and grumpy when she meets new dog friends, but once she is comfortable (usually just a few minutes) she loves running and playing chase with both the adult dogs and puppies in her foster home. She recently met a cat and completely ignored it so we think she would do fine with a dog savvy cat. She is potty trained and crate trained but responsible to be left uncrated while foster mom is away.  She  sometimes nervous pees in stressful situations, but is doing much better.
