Story
Meet Trooper – The Sweet, Goofy Companion You’ve Been Waiting For! If you’re looking for a loyal, fun-loving, and affectionate best friend, Trooper may be the perfect match! This handsome, petite 38lb, 4 year old Pittie / Weimeraner mix has a big heart and a goofy personality that will keep you smiling every day.Trooper is a medium-energy dog who loves going for walks, playing fetch, zooming around the yard, and then curling up on the couch for a cozy nap. He adores his plush toys (especially the ones he can toss around himself!) and enjoys being close to his people—he’s happiest when he can follow you from room to room, just to be near you.Trooper is friendly with other dogs, though he prefers a slow introduction and time to warm up. He would do best in a home with older kids and would love a backyard where he can play and explore. He can be a little uncertain around toddlers and young children. He’s currently learning the ropes of house training and leash manners, and he’s made great progress with structure and consistency. Trooper does best when he has access to a doggy door or regular potty breaks throughout the day. He’s not a fan of being crated for long periods, so a home where someone is around more often—or where he has a safe gated space—would be ideal.Trooper is on daily medication for mild seizures, which are well-managed and don’t stop him from living a happy, active life. He takes his meds like a champ and enjoys his regular vet check-ins.This sweet boy has a few quirks (he can be a bit mischievous if left alone too long and will occasionally indulge in a shoe or two!), but his loving nature and joyful spirit make up for it tenfold. Trooper would thrive in a calm, patient home—maybe with another friendly dog, older kids, or someone who works from home or enjoys spending time outdoors.Once you earn his trust, Trooper will reward you with endless love, loyalty, and laughter. His goofy grin and gentle heart will absolutely steal yours. ❤️Trooper’s Ideal Home:- Older kids or adults only- A yard or regular outdoor access- Another friendly dog (optional but helpful!)- Someone home more often than not- Willing to continue gentle training and give him love and structureIf you’re ready to open your heart and home to this charming, silly, and devoted companion, Trooper is ready to meet you!To meet Trooper, please fill out an application at http://caws.org/adoption-application. Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Story
Chief is getting older and is looking for his last home. Chief is a sweet dog that loves to just be with you, doing whatever you are doing. He will hang out with you all day, or snuggle on his pillow. Inside, he is house trained and knows to alert you when he needs to go out. Chief is so loving and bonds deeply once he gets to know you. Don't let his age fool you. He still has plenty of energy and loves to go on adventures. We can tell that he loves being on the farm but really wants to have a family of his own. He gets along well with other dogs with proper introductions. He chases the barn cats so we aren't sure how he would do with a house cat. He is very smart and wants to please so he may do okay with some training. He definitely has had e-collar training. We use a bark collar during the day, but only turned to tone. He does not bark with it on. Chief is okay on a leash, but needs a pack leader, or he will drag you around. He is a strong boy and somewhere learned to pull on the leash. With firm direction, he will walk nicely beside you. He does not like his feet touched and is not cooperative with nail trimming. We have worked with him a bit, but he is pretty adamant about not having them trimmed. He will need work to successfully trim his nails without sedition. Chief's one draw back is that is not okay with children of any age. Somewhere in his past, a child harmed him and he does not trust any children. He needs an adult only family. If children are to visit, he should be kenneled and not asked to or allowed to interact with children. Chief is an old man now and really deserves to have a comfy couch to spend his final years. Can he crash on your couch? Contact us today to meet this sweet old man.

Story
Layka is a delightful young female mixed breed  born August 27, 2021, weighing 50 pounds.  Layka a zest for life and an infectious enthusiasm that will brighten any home. Born with a naturally happy and outgoing personality, Layka thrives on adventure and loves the thrill of exploring new places. Her playful spirit and love for cuddles make her an ideal companion for families who enjoy an active lifestyle and plenty of affection. Layka is best suited for a household where she can be the only dog, allowing her to soak up all the love and attention she deserves. While she is naturally joyful and affectionate, Layka will benefit from socialization and training to help her adjust to her new environment and become the best version of herself. Our In-Home Experience with the Lovely Layka Layka is a delightful and silly girl who will undoubtedly capture your heart, one laugh at a time. From the moment she arrived at our home, her curiosity was evident—she sniffed every inch of the place and quickly decided that the couch was her favorite spot. A Day in the Life of Layka Layka's daily routine is a charming mix of relaxation and playful energy. About 75% of her day is spent as a content couch potato, while the remaining 25% is dedicated to her puppy zoomies, where she eagerly wants to play. Her play mode often involves heading to the backyard for a game of "fetch" with her Kong ball. Fetch deserves quotation marks because, more often than not, Layka ends up throwing the ball in the air herself and chasing it around like an exuberant baby kangaroo. She sprints full speed from one end of the yard to the other, taking frequent pit stops at the kitchen water dish for huge, refreshing slurps. It's essential to have a nice big bowl because Layka loves her water! After about 10-15 minutes of this energetic play, she sprints back inside, bringing her ball to the couch as a signal that she's all tuckered out. A Perfect Work-From-Home Companion I work from home, and Layka has proven to be a wonderful coworker. She spends her time in the living room, keeping an eye on passersby from the window. Every half hour or so, she trots into my office for a brief session of belly rubs and kisses before returning to her relaxing routine. Having Layka around has made my workdays much more enjoyable. Settling In and House Training Layka is house-trained, although she did have a couple of accidents during her first week with us, which we attributed to being in a new environment. She quickly learned to stand by the back door and gaze at us when she wanted to be let outside. Occasionally, she just wanted to enjoy the sunshine. When ready to come back in, she would sit politely at the door and give a short little bark to let us know. Overall, Layka has brought endless joy and laughter into our home. Her playful antics and loving demeanor have made her a beloved member of our household. By welcoming Layka into your home, you're inviting a happy and playful companion into your life. Her adventurous spirit and affectionate nature are sure to fill your days with joy and warmth. If you're ready for a lively and loving furry friend, Layka might just be the perfect match for your family! If interested please go to our website and fill out an application. Story
&#226&#156&#168 Meet Luna Love Female • Parson Russell Terrier / Catahoula Leopard Dog Mix • 1.5 Years Old • 30 lbs • Healthy, Vaccinated & Spayed Luna Love is a beautiful blend of gentle heart and quiet strength. At a year and a half old, she carries herself with a calm confidence and a deep affection for the people she trusts. Luna thrives in peaceful, predictable environments and is looking for a home where routines, kindness, and patience are part of everyday life. Personality Luna Love is soft, affectionate, and emotionally intuitive. She bonds deeply with her humans and enjoys staying close — lounging nearby, leaning into gentle affection, or following you quietly from room to room. While she has moments of playful curiosity, she truly shines in calm settings. Luna does best as the only dog or with very calm, respectful animals, where she can feel secure and relaxed. She is happiest in a quiet home with a steady rhythm. Breed Info (Parson Russell Terrier / Catahoula Leopard Dog Mix) This unique mix often brings together: Intelligence and problem-solving ability Loyalty and strong emotional bonds Sensitivity to environment and routine A balance of alertness and gentleness While both breeds are known for energy and drive, Luna’s temperament leans toward the thoughtful, calm side — thriving best with structure and positive guidance. Owner Responsibilities Luna Love’s future family should be prepared to: Provide a calm, consistent daily routine Offer daily walks and gentle mental enrichment Use positive reinforcement and patience in training Respect her need for a peaceful home environment Maintain regular veterinary care Even though Luna Love is healthy, adopters should take her to their own veterinarian as soon as possible after adoption to establish care. Things to Consider Before Adopting Luna Love does best in low-chaos, quiet households She should be the only dog or live with very calm animals Confirm landlord or HOA approval, including breed and size policies Consider your schedule, lifestyle, and ability to provide structure Adoption is a lifetime commitment, not a temporary choice The 3-3-3 Rule The first 3 days give Luna Love time to decompress, the first 3 weeks help her learn your home and routine, and the first 3 months are when trust deepens and she truly understands she is safe and home. &#226&#156&#168 Why Luna Love Will Be a Great Addition Luna Love is the kind of dog who doesn’t demand attention — she earns your heart quietly and completely. She brings peace, devotion, and emotional warmth into the right home. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who values calm connection and steady love, Luna Love is ready to become your forever friend. Story
Meet Chiquita Female DOB: May 18, 2024 Weight: 30 lbs Breed: Pinscher / Catahoula Mix Spayed (Fixed) Vaccinated Microchipped Healthy & Adoption-Ready Personality, Breed Info & Expectations Chiquita is a sweet, affectionate girl with a loving personality and a gentle connection to her people. She enjoys attention, companionship, and being close to her humans, making her the kind of dog who quickly becomes part of the heart of the home. She has matured beautifully beyond the young puppy stage while still keeping a playful spark and curious personality. Chiquita enjoys interaction and companionship but also has a softer, affectionate side that makes her a wonderful cuddle companion. As a Pinscher / Catahoula mix, Chiquita may show traits such as intelligence, alertness, curiosity, and loyalty. Pinscher mixes are often confident and engaging, while Catahoula-type dogs are known for their awareness, devotion, and strong bond with their families. Chiquita would thrive in a home that can provide: Companionship and interaction Daily walks and moderate activity Structure and consistency Inclusion as part of the family She would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a loving dog with both personality and affection. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Many rescue dogs come from very different backgrounds. Some may have previously lived in homes, while others may have come from the streets, overcrowded shelters, neglect situations, or environments where they had little structure or guidance. Because of this, most rescue dogs arrive with only basic training at best, and some may have had no formal training at all. Even dogs who appear well-behaved in foster care or at the rescue are still adjusting and learning. The rescue environment itself also does not always allow for extensive one-on-one training. While we work hard to provide safety, structure, socialization, and basic guidance, adopters should be prepared to continue training and support after adoption. Chiquita will benefit from: Positive reinforcement training Structure and consistency Patience during adjustment periods Continued socialization and engagement Routine and companionship Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule: 3 days to decompress 3 weeks to learn your routine 3 months to fully feel at home With patience, stability, and commitment, rescue dogs often blossom into deeply loyal lifelong companions. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Owning a dog is a lifelong commitment that includes daily exercise, companionship, routine veterinary care, training, mental stimulation, and financial responsibility. Chiquita will need: Daily walks and interaction Continued training and guidance Routine wellness exams and preventative veterinary care A safe, stable, indoor living environment Consistent veterinary care, proper nutrition, preventative care, and emotional stability are all essential to helping her live a healthy and happy life. Chiquita is an indoor family dog and is not to be chained or left outside.
