Story
Meet Obi! Obi may be 5 years old, but has the soul of a young pup! He absolutely loves to go on long walks, making sure he takes his time to sniff each spot that peaks his interest. He's a gentleman on the leash for the most part and has the energy to keep up on longer adventures! He would make an excellent hiking partner or running buddy. Obi is higher energy than your typical dog, needing more mental and physical stimulation to keep him calm and satisfied. He can be picky about his dog friends, so a meet and greet with your resident dog will be required. He is a very smart dog and is able to pick up tricks and routines quickly with some treat motivation. He will do just about anything for a peanut butter treat. He has been noted to do well around older children who display a level of understanding and maturity around dogs. Obi may come off as uninterested in new people, but once he knows you, he'll let his soft, loving and goofy side show! Obi is looking for an experienced dog owner who is able to keep up with his needs! We know that Obi will make the most loyal, loving, and funny companion! If you're interested in meeting with Obi, stop by the RHSPCA today!

Story
Meet Mavis! If you’ve ever wished for a tiny best friend who wants to be part of absolutely everything you do, Mavis is ready to apply for the job. With her beautiful smoky gray coat, soulful gray eyes, and heart of pure gold, this sweet girl has one goal in life. Be wherever her people are. Making dinner? She’ll happily supervise. Folding laundry? She’ll keep you company. Sitting down to watch a movie? Perfect. She was planning to curl up next to you anyway. Mavis is the definition of a Velcro dog, and she wears that title proudly. Mavis loves other dogs, does well with cats, and is wonderfully gentle with children. She is sweet, submissive, eager to please, and never misses an opportunity to hand out kisses or roll over for a belly rub. She has the most endearing little personality quirks, too. She carefully arranges the perfect blanket nest before settling in for a nap, greets each morning with the cutest sleepy stretches and snorty sounds, and firmly believes every toy belongs on the floor before deciding which one is worthy of her attention. She has even started discovering that fetch can be pretty entertaining. She rides beautifully in the car, walks nicely on leash, trots happily into her crate, and responds incredibly well to gentle guidance and positive reinforcement. Mavis truly wants to do the right thing and loves making her people happy. Like many dogs adjusting to a new home, Mavis is still learning her house training routine and continues to make wonderful progress every day. She is eager to learn, loves being part of the family, and takes new experiences in stride. More than anything, Mavis is looking for a family to love with her whole heart. If you’ve been searching for a loyal little companion who will happily follow you from room to room, fill your days with quiet affection, and remind you every single day that you’re her favorite person, Mavis is ready to meet you. At the time you are seeing this post, this dog is still available for adoption. But please know that we may be working on multiple applications already, and any one of them could be approved at any time. Please READ THIS ENTIRE DESCRIPTION and complete an adoption application, if you are interested in any of our animals. Application at www.greendogsunleashed.org If you send an inquiry to ask if the dog is still available, or just tell us you are interested, your inquiry will not be answered. FILL OUT AN APPLICATION. We can do NOTHING without that. No, we cannot tell you if he would be a match for your family without seeing an application. PLEASE KEEP READING for info. */*/* PLEASE NOTE: The first communication you will receive after completing an application will be an email response, which will have instructions on how to proceed. Please check your inbox AND spam folders for the next 48 hours, for this email. We will not begin processing an application without the information requested in that email. */*/* We are happy to consider applicants from out of state on most dogs. Please read the description to see if this dog is an exception. If the applicant is approved to adopt, they MUST be willing to come to our location in Troy, VA, for a meet and greet. If all parties agree that the pup and family are a good fit, they would take the pup home at that time. For more information about our mission and for an APPLICATION for adoption, please go to www.greendogsunleashed.com. GDU does ask a minimum adoption fee of $400.00. This does not even come close to covering all expenses created by animals while in rescue. We are funded solely by the angels and volunteers willing to donate time and finances. This minimum fee includes DAPP, rabies if age appropriate,, heartworm test and preventative, if age appropriate, and flea and tick treatment, as well as neutering or spaying, if the animal is medically sound to undergo surgery. In an attempt to avoid tummy upset from a sudden change of food, the foster family may include a small, transitional bag of the food the dog/puppy has been eating. And if the dog/puppy has grown attached to a special item (like a toy or blanket), they may send that along, as well. */*/* Young puppies will receive age-appropriate vaccines, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Adopters may be required to provide additional puppy boosters and at 16 weeks of age, a rabies vaccine. Future annual vaccines, testing and monthly heartworm preventative are REQUIRED, and will be the financial responsibility of the adopter. *****Due to the sheer number of animals and applications in our program, coupled with a limited number of volunteers, applicants MUST have patience as we process applications.   If you do not hear back from us, the animal may have been adopted.   We strive to let people know but sadly cannot offer reasons for denial beyond that.  Any harassment of our volunteers will go unanswered and we will simply block you.   Our volunteers spend their time working hard to ensure the very best for each animal.   Please remember the animal, not the applicant, is our client.*****  ##2785301##
