Story
Lulu is a beautiful 7-year-old Schnauzer/Maltese mix. She has a very sweet, affectionate personality and an incredible story of resilience. She came into our care after being severely attacked by another dog and required surgery, extensive medical treatment, and several weeks of recovery. Despite everything she went through, Lulu has remained loving, people-oriented, and very attached to the people she feels safe with. At home, Lulu enjoys a calmer, comfortable routine and loves being close to her people. She is fully potty trained and goes outside for bathroom breaks. At 7 years old, she is at a really nice age where she can still enjoy walks, attention, and being part of the family without having all of that nonstop puppy energy. Lulu is currently fostered with a Pug and does great with him, so she can absolutely live with another dog. Because she was previously attacked by a large female dog, we would prefer that she not be placed in a home with large female dogs. A calm, smaller dog with a compatible personality could be a great fit for her. We would also recommend a home without small children. Lulu has been through a lot, and she does best with gentle, respectful handling and a more peaceful environment. Older children who understand how to interact appropriately with dogs may be a better fit depending on the household. Personality-wise, Lulu is affectionate, loving, and forms strong bonds with the people she trusts. She is looking for a family that will give her stability, patience, and a sense of safety. She really doesn’t need anything complicated. She just wants a comfortable home, her walks and potty breaks outside, a predictable routine, and people she can love and feel safe with. Lulu has already overcome so much, and now she is ready for the easy part: being someone’s dog. She would be a wonderful match for someone looking for a loving adult companion who is past the puppy stage, already potty trained, and happiest being part of a calm, caring home.
