GINGERSNAP NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name: Gingersnap     Best Guess for Breed:   Schnauzer and terrier mix   Best Guess for Age:   3 years as of August 2026      SEX:    Female   Approximate Weight: 12 lbs   Gets Along With: Gingersnap does well with other dogs and must go to a home with a welcoming resident dog. We haven't seen her with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:   South Carolina shelter - needs a foster or forever home in the DC area to get up here. Special adoption considerations: Gingersnap is shy and must go to a home with a welcoming resident dog who will show her the ropes.    Gingersnap is Looking For:  A real home. Gingersnap and some other scruffy cuties that look just like her landed in the shelter. They all are sweet - but scared. Gingersnap hasn't seen nearly enough of the world yet so she's both uncertain and scared in new places - AND she is eager to make up for lost time!   She'd like her own humans for sniffy walks and romps and world exploration. And snuggles, definitely snuggles. Making new pup pals along the way would be great too. And she'd like to go to dog school too - it's never too late to become a scholar!   Most of all, she'd like to know where she belongs, to be safe and loved for all her days. In exchange she promises so much love, so much loyalty. What do you say? Can you see her by your side?   What My Foster Says About Me:   Gingersnap is sweet and loyal - she is slowly coming out of her shell and gaining more confidence. She enjoys long sunset walks along the monuments.Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. In exchange he promises so much love, so much loyalty. What do you say? Can you see him by your side?   What My Foster Says About Me:   We will update this once he has spent time in foster care.    Heartworm information: Liam is a truly Lucky Dog. He tested positive for heartworms, but landed in a place where heartworm treatment is provided! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. We are happy to discuss where in the treatment process this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption.
