Story
I’m Birch — a 3-year-old Westie, about 21 pounds, and one very sweet little boy looking for my first real home. Until now, I lived in a puppy mill, where my days were all the same and no one really knew me as a friend or family member. I was willingly surrendered, so that means I finally have a chance at the kind of life every dog deserves. I’m good with other dogs so if you already have a pup at home, I’d be happy to join. What I need now is a caring home that will show me what it means to be part of a family. If you can offer me understanding and love, I’ll spend the rest of my life making up for lost time — learning, trusting, and loving you back with my whole heart. I’m Birch, and I’m so ready for my second chance! Thank you so much for your interest in adopting a dog from A New Chance Animal Rescue (https://anewchancear.org). We are a 501c3, tax deductible organization. ANCAR is a foster-based rescue, and we adopt within a 90 mile radius of Bedford Hills, NY. You will find the adoption application here: (https://anewchancear.org/adopt/adoption-application/). All fields on the application must be completed. Please read about the adoption process (https://www.anewchancear.org/adopt/our-adoption-process/) so you'll know what to expect when you submit. Our dogs are in foster care and we do NOT have a shelter or boarding facility. AN APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED IN FULL AND APPROVED BEFORE A DOG CAN BE MET. This is a firm policy. Our busy volunteers are not able to respond to questions about the dog or dog meeting requests in the absence of an application. We know these dogs very well because they are in foster care. Please read the profiles of the dog(s) you are interested in prior to submitting an application. If there are specific requirements stated (ie: Fenced Yard or Canine Friend Required) these are included because they are vital to the happiness, health, safety and adoption success of that dog. We are only able to save as many dogs as we have foster homes (https://www.anewchancear.org/foster/faqs/) and resources for. We provide medical care including vaccinations, testing, deworming, spaying/neutering and microchipping before transporting our dogs. We provide all supplies, preventatives and any follow up vet care necessary while they are in foster care. These costs are high and the number of lives we can save is entirely dependent upon donations from people like you. We do not receive funding from private foundations or government sources. If you can find room in your heart to help us, with any amount, we are truly grateful (https://www.anewchancear.org/help/donate/). We are a 501c3 organization, so all donations are tax-deductible. It is only through the kindness of supporters like you that we are 'changing lives...one tail at a time' by providing our dogs with 'A New Chance.' (https://anewchancear.org) Thanks so much.

Story
Hello! I’m Polar — a 4-year-old Westie weighing about 19 pounds, and I’m finally getting my first real chance at a normal life. I spent my early years stuck at a puppy mill, and even though that was really hard, I somehow held on to my sweetness. I was willingly surrendered, and now I’m safe, cared for, and waiting for someone to show me what a real home feels like. I’m a very sweet boy and good with other dogs, so I’d be happy to have a canine friend to keep me company. After everything I’ve been through, I really do deserve a second chance and a family of my own. I’m ready to leave the past behind and start over as someone’s beloved companion instead of just a number in a mill. If you’ve been thinking about rescuing a dog who truly needs you, I’d be honored if you chose me. Story
WISE is entirely volunteer-run and all of the donations made to our rescue go directly back to the animals in our care. By partnering with veterinary practices that support our work, we are able to save animals lives and restore them back to health. While some animals only need standard care, others require more extensive veterinary or behavioral care. Regardless of which dog you are applying for, we are looking for adopters to support our program with a minimum donation of $850. The donation may or may not be directly applied to care of the dog you're adopting but rather goes toward supporting all of the dogs in the rescue. We appreciate the understanding of our potential adopters. Please keep this in mind prior to applying.NAME:Bubble YumBREED: Pomeranian x West Highland Terrier mixDOB:Dec 29, 2021 (3 years 10 months)Home Recommendation:Bubble Yum will thrive in a quiet home that has another friendly dog and experienced adopters who can continue helping her build confidence. Because she can be shy and fearful at times, shell do best in a calm environment with patient people committed to her training and socialization. WHY DID THEY COME TO WISE: Bubble Yum spent her entire life as a breeding dog in a puppy mill. When her 'breeders' decided they no longer had a use for her, they planned to discard her. Thankfully, WISE was able to step in and rescue her along with her three puppies, giving them a second chance to experience the love and warmth of a real home. Now shes ready to start that new chapter!PersonalityBubble Yum is still discovering what it means to be a beloved pet after spending her entire life in a puppy mill. She has slowly begun to enjoy simple pleasures-like watching birds out the window, resting in her crate surrounded by her stuffed animals, and occasionally letting out a little howl when something catches her attention. The quickest way to her heart is through her favorite treats- turkey and cheese. Recently, shes started venturing onto the couch to sit near her foster mom, showing her belly for rubs. She loves to play with the other dogs she is being fostered with. Though still timid, Bubble Yum has made great strides and continues to blossom with patience and love. She will need a devoted family to help her continue this journey and give her the gentle, nurturing home shes always deserved.KIDS: Yes, kids 16+. DOGS: Yes, she would do well with another calm, confident dog.CATS: YesTraining:Bubble Yum uses her crate as her safe spac- she sleeps in it at night and goes in and out during the day for comfort. Shes still practicing leash walking and can be easily startled by loud noises, so quiet walks are best. She isnt yet fully house-trained but is very consistent using wee wee pads (about 95% of the time). With structure, consistency, and reassurance, she will continue to make steady progress.Visit WiseAnimalRescue.org to fill out an adoption application.Adoption areas include: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Maine, Vermont, Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Rhode Island, and New Hampshire.
