Story
*Has anal gland cancer - in remission but may come back. *Can go as the only dogMeet Elliot, a gentle male Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier weighing 35 pounds, who has been in foster care since late January 2024. Recovering from a broken jaw, he now enjoys life muzzle-free and has been diligently learning commands like "wait," "touch," and "pick up" to help him acclimate to touch and handling. Elliot has also mastered "sit," "lay," and "come," showcasing his eagerness to learn. With a laid-back demeanor, Elliot finds solace in lounging beside his favorite person, relishing in pets and massages. While he's still getting the hang of leash manners, he walks without pulling and delights in the company of other dogs, especially when frolicking in the snow. Always rewarded with treats after potty breaks, Elliot's appetite knows no bounds as he works on gaining weight. Eager for his forever home, Elliot eagerly awaits adoption through the National Mill Dog Rescue, ready to bring joy to his future family.-------Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. Because some of our dogs are very under socialized, they may not be a good fit for young children. Homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, many of these dogs come around with patience and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience.
