Adoption Fee: $475 When available, all animals are fixed in accordance with Colorado law, up to date on vaccines (may need boosters), and microchipped! What we know: Local owner surrender, found as a stray by a CPR volunteer and owners were located. Owners could not keep due to finance and housing issues and transferred guardianship to the volunteer who then surrendered to us. From the foster: Hi there! I’m Lucas, a little poodle mix with a big heart. I started out pretty scared and scruffy after my family could no longer care for me, but with some love and patience in my foster home, I’ve blossomed into a handsome, happy ball of energy. While I love being close to my people, I can be a bit nervous when making new friends so slow introductions are best. I get along well with the similarly sized dog in my foster home and I don't mind the polite toddler too, but I am a little suspicious of the large man and like to growl at him before allowing pets. I'm working hard to be a good boy, but sometimes my excitement gets the best of me and I jump up for attention or give a soft nibble on hands and clothes as I am not sure what to do with the toys my foster family keeps giving me. I’m still learning my manners, working hard on my potty training, and getting the hang of settling in my crate at night (even if I protest with some loud barking a little first).I have to wear a belly band inside as I want to mark my territory to let everyone know this is my new space, but my foster mom is hoping a future neuter and gentle reminders will help with my habit of marking. What I really dream of is a family who wants a true lap dog and will let me sit with them on the couch, take me on walks - which I am getting the hang of - and let me be wherever they are! I bond deeply with my person and can get a bit anxious when left alone, so a home where I can be part of everyday life would make me feel safe, loved, and right where I belong. www.coloradopuppy.org/how-to-adopt
