Story
Meet Kona!Kona is a sweet, sensitive mixed-breed looking for a patient, experienced person/s who will give her the time she needs to feel safe and loved. Originally rescued as a young puppy from Mexico, Kona is naturally cautious around new people and unfamiliar situations, and she thrives when she's allowed to move at her own pace. She takes time to build trust with new people and will need slow, positive introductions. Loud noises, unfamiliar environments, quick movements, and meeting strangers can all be overwhelming for Kona. However, beneath her timid exterior is a playful, affectionate dog just waiting to let her personality shine. Once you've earned her trust, Kona is incredibly loyal and forms a deep bond with her people. When she's comfortable, Kona loves splashing in creeks, swimming, chasing sticks, enjoying her morning zoomies in the yard, and soaking up the sunshine during a relaxing afternoon.Kona is looking for a quiet, predictable home with experienced adopters who understand that trust cannot be rushed. A home with minimal visitors would be ideal, as frequent new people can be stressful for her. She is not suitable for a home with young children.Multiple meet-and-greets are required before Kona can go home with her new family-no exceptions. She needs the opportunity to build a relationship with her adopters before making such a big transition. This extra time helps set Kona up for success and gives her the best chance to thrive in her new home.Kona can be selective with other dogs but may do well with the right canine companion following slow, thoughtful introductions. Any resident dogs will need to be introduced carefully to ensure a good match.Kona may not be the dog who greets you with instant enthusiasm, but for someone willing to invest the time and patience she deserves, the reward is immeasurable. If you're looking for a deeply loyal companion and understand that the best relationships are built on trust, Kona could be your perfect match. Please follow these steps if interested in adoption!1. Story
🌼 Meet Flaca — A Gentle Soul Ready for a Softer LifeBetween 35–40 lbs and just 1.5 years old, Flaca hasn’t had an easy start. She was found in poor shape, already having had puppies despite her young age, and carrying an old injury likely from a car accident. But even with all she’s been through, Flaca’s heart is wide open — she’s looking for affection, stability, and a human who sees the sweetness she carries.💛 A Loving, Tender PersonalityFlaca adores the affection she gets during volunteer walks and visits. She leans in, melts, and soaks up every bit of kindness offered to her. She enjoys playtime in the shelter yard and has even been a gentle, helpful substitute mamma to some of the very young pups at the sanctuary. She also practises visiting cats — and she aces it. Calm, respectful, and curious.🐾 Health & Special ConsiderationsFlaca’s hind‑end injury doesn’t stop her from playing or walking nicely on leash — she doesn’t limp and enjoys her outings. However, she does need to avoid constipation, as the injury sits close to her anus. With simple monitoring and care, she does beautifully.🌱 Her Ideal HomeFlaca is growing more comfortable with the bumbling noises of loud vehicles on gravel roads, but her perfect match would be a quieter home with a yard, where she can sunbathe in peace and decompress from her tough beginnings. She’s not a city girl yet — she’d thrive with calm surroundings and patient humans.🐕 Breed GuessFlaca is a true Mexican special, but our best guess is Basenji × Whippet — a lovely mix of grace, intelligence, and sensitivity.✈️ Location & TravelFlaca is currently in shelter in Puerto Vallarta, with flight options opening for BC and Alberta. She’s ready for foster, foster‑to‑adopt, or adoption.📩 Interested in Flaca?Email pvcaadoptions@gmail.com for more information or an application. Please check your spam / junk mail for our response.

Story
Milo is a rescue from Mexico. He’s a chiwhip around 4 years, 35lbs, neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped.  Sweet, gentle, very playful, very good with dogs, very good with kids, probably not great with cats. He’s very active and has high energy and needs to run. Ideally looking for a family with a fenced yard and possibly another active dog to chase. Milo is not an apartment/lazy dog. He has a cough/hack when he gets excited and he has the reverse sneeze thing as well.
