Story
Introducing the sleek lean (and stunning!) Jimmina. She is a one year old lab x whippet who weighs in at 31 lbs and looks like a leaner smaller version of a lab. She has a lovely temperament with joy in her stride. She is very friendly with people. She is good with other dogs and enjoys playtime with her friends, though naturally is scared of the territorial dogs outside the shelter who come out with menace. Jimmina is also good with cats. She will wow you with her speedy zoomies, only to run back to your feet for cuddles. She’d be a great adventure dog, but also very calm and quiet at home. She is smart, and eager to please. She is medium energy and a quiet girl who asks for little outside of some snuggles. Her youth and loving heart belongs with a loving family of her very own. If you think you might be her chance at a family, or foster along the way, we’d love to hear from you at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com. Please check your j

Story
Hi, my name is SHYLO and below is some info about me:Breed: Whippet/Shepard mixAge: 3 yrsGender: maleWeight: 19 kg (41 lb)Country of origin: UAEHighlights: sweet natured, gentle, affectionate, well-mannered, very people friendly My rescuer states I am a remarkable dog. Both well mannered and sweet natured. This here boy's story began in the harsh deserts of the UAE, where I was rescued by a small, dedicated shelter operating with limited resources and no electricity—despite the scorching heat. I was one of 1,200 dogs struggling to survive in heartbreaking conditions.Despite the odds, my sweet nature and gentle temperament stood out. One of the shelter workers, moved by my resilience and loving spirit, brought me to a city-based shelter, hoping I’d have a better chance at finding the forever home I so deserved. My journey took a promising turn when an Italian expat family fostered me. I quickly settled in, basking in the warmth of family life, and for a while, it seemed I had finally found my home. Sadly, when the family had to return to Italy due to job loss, I was brought back to the shelter. That’s when my current rescuer saw my story on social media and felt an immediate connection. They brought me into their family, and I blended in beautifully with all of thema 10-year-old child, the husband, and their house help. However, despite every effort, I have not been able to find common ground with their 10-year-old Canadian Boxer girl. It’s become clear that we’re just not a good match. While I am fine with other dogs, sometimes personalities clash, just like with people. So, they’re now searching for a loving forever home for me.They say I am truly a joy: affectionate, sweet, gentle and incredibly people-friendly.                While get along with other dogs, I'd likely do best as an only fur child in the home. I'd do great having a 2 legged sibling or two though.I can be slightly over reactive to external sounds. I can get quite scared with my normal reaction being, if possible, to remove myself from the area and preferable go to my safe place. If I am unable to extract myself from the position, then the next normal response is to bark - but it’s not an aggressive bark. So providing me with a "safe zone" is appreciated. In time, I shoild learn what is normal, so reactions will fade. I do bark at door bells though. A trainer should be able to help with this. I am fairly good on leash, though I do pull sometimes. Continued training in this area is a good idea. As you csn see, I am still on high alert outside yet.I deserve the safety, affection, and stability of a home that’s truly mine. Any family that will open their heart to a dog with resilience like me, will have their lives changed. It is my hope you will let me bring happiness into your life and love into your heart. Energy Level: ModerateI get along with:Dogs: yesCats: unknownKids: unknown. Rescuer states yes, but no video proof Fears: none observed, though I am sensitive to external loud noises. Please be patient assisting me in my transition.Training:Leash skills: yes, some, no. Please be prepared to continue training.House trained: Yes. Please help me learn where to go in my new home. Health notes:I have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver.  Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. You will NOT be asked to pay a passenger fee on top of the cargo fee. [MID-EAST] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.[TURKEY] Dogs from Turkey receive a 4D SNAP test to include Leishmania, Heartworm, Ehrlichia, & Anaplasma, as well as Giardia, Parvo, Corona & Distemper. ##2488328##

Story
Greetings. My name is JOSELLE and here is a little info about me:Breed: Golden Retriever/Whippet/German Shepard mixAge: 4 yearsGender: femaleWeight: 44 lbs / 20 kgHeight (ground to shoulder):  16 in / 40 cmHighlights: playful, friendly, calm, cuddly, affectionate, curious In such a short time, I have such come a long way. I look forward to going further... to Canada and become a true Canadian puptizen with a family to love and who loves me.Two and a half years ago, someone called my rescuers to help a dog who had a plastic jar stuck on her head for more than a week. You guessed it, it was me. It was summer time, the weather was hot and I surely was not getting enough air, nor any food and water. But I was so hungry, I had to lick the bottom of that grand smelling jar for what nourishment I could find.My rescers went to look for me, but we couldn’t find me. They returned the next day until they did. I was found hiding under a tree. I had finally been able to remove the jar, but my ears were in bad condition. They tried to catch me, but I was trying to bite them. Though they had difficulty controlling me, they were able to finally catch me with a net. They took me immediately to a vet where I was treated. Phew, quite the ordeal. After a few months being cared for in the shelter, I turned into a very well socialized and confident lady. After I realized they didn't want to hurt me and were actually caring for me, I learned that life with humans can actually be good. Not like my life on the streets. So, I have become quite loyal to my new people. When hearing loud voices, I can startle and get a little jumpy. Sometimes the sounds of cars is scary. I'm hoping you can reassure me on walks with cars around. Having been in the war zone here, it is going to take some settling while I learn I am no longer in danger. Now I enjoy playing and though a bit shy, am friendly once I have time to get over the anxiousness of meeting someone new. In fact, I am cuddly and affectionate. Also, I tend to be a fairly calm albeit curious girl. You'll find me a bright pup with an amusing personality to keep you smiling.I take walks on a leash, very well I might add. Though active, I am not hyper at all. I get along with my doggie friends, but not always with the kitties. I haven't had interactions with children.
