Meet Buttercup! We believe she's a stunning Whippet/Beagle mix with soft beige and white fur and a tail wag that is so enthusiastic it lives up to its whip-like reputation! One look at her expressive face and you'll quickly see how special she is. When the weather turns chilly, Buttercup is more than happy to slip into her jackets or sweaters, eagerly waiting to get cozy and be fashionable for her walks! Wearing her outfits like the true fashion icon she is. Buttercup recently spent some time in a foster home for the holidays and proved to be an absolute dream house guest. She was well behaved, easy to care for and respected her surroundings. No furniture chewing or decor mishaps here. She's curious in new environments and likes to take her time carefully sniffing every inch before she gets settled in. On walks, Buttercup is generally polite and patient, even waiting calmly for the door to be opened before heading out. She enjoys leisurely sniff-filled strolls, though squirrels and exciting new places can briefly activate her inner hound! While she's not overly toy-driven, she does enjoy gentle play and has a special fondness for a Kong stuffed with treats and peanut butter. At home, Buttercup is a certified couch potato who loves long naps and cozy downtime. Her bursts of energy come out during walks or when she has access to a large yard - where she can show off just how fast she truly is! She appears to be partially crate trained, going in reluctantly at first but eventually relaxing comfortably within. In her foster home she only had one accident but was able to quickly get into a routine. Buttercup handles baths and brushing like a pro and already knows a few commands such as sit, leave it, paw and no. She may politely beg for human food, but she understands boundaries and stops when told no. She does well meeting new people and has shown herself to be quite good with kids and cats! When it comes to other dogs, Buttercup can quickly become overstimulated and quite vocal. While she may enjoy canine company, her barking can sometimes overwhelm other dogs and may lead to reactivity. So, she would do best in an only dog household. If you are looking for a sweet, stylish, gentle companion who balances cozy couch days with speedy outdoor adventures, Buttercup may be the perfect match for you!

Crackerjack is a retired field trial racing greyhound Crackerjack, aka Jack, is 7 years old and was born 10/18/2018. He weighs 55 pounds . This handsome brindle guy is a tail wagging boy who loves loves people. He likes to keep his kennel clean, so housebreaking should be easy. He loves toys! He loves people! He likes to dig, so he can bury his toys - or maybe he is just bored with being at the kennel so long! He has decided that he DOES like some other big, calmer hounds. He is fully vetted. He is currently boarding at the Celina Pet Center. Crackerjack will need a fenced in yard so he can run and get his sunbathing in. No kitties or small dogs for this handsome boy. Jessie joined the American Lurcher Project a few weeks ago. A stunningly handsome black boy! Jessie is a retired field trial racing greyhound who is now ready for his retirement couch and a loving family. Jessie, aka Lock Down, is 6 years young and loves being petted. Jessie was born 12/25/2018 and weighs 65 pounds. Jessie's youth makes him interested in everything. This included the cement dog outside the Pet Center. He is very involved and wants to know what or why an item is setting here! Jessie will need a fenced in yard so he can run and play! Jessie's sister Kit retired 8/10/2023 and his other sister Buffy retired 2/5/2023. Jessie will make a fun and awesome pet for some lucky family. AmericanLurcherProject@gmail.com. Handsome Drew joined the ALP team in June. This super sweet boy will be 6 years old this fall. He was born October 1, 2019. He has a lot of gray/blue color mixed in the hair on his back. You can see blue color behind his ears, on the top of his head and on his face. He is a dog full of pure joy who loves to play with toys. He will capture your heart in a heartbeat. He is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm negative, has had a dental. All of our dogs are microchipped and on Heartworm prevention. This boy will need a fenced in yard to run and play.
