Story
Rex is a 4-year-old wire-haired terrier mix who is neutered and up to date on all vaccines. He’s one of the resilient dogs rescued from a backyard hoarding case in California’s Central Valley — and he is proving every day just how much heart he has. Since settling into foster care, Rex has been making steady, meaningful progress. He can be a bit anxious, but he’s learning that the world is safe and predictable. With a regular routine, he’s adjusting well and growing more comfortable each day. He’s starting to truly enjoy his daily walks and now allows his foster family to put his collar on without much trouble — a small victory that speaks volumes. After one early accident in the house, he’s been doing great with going potty outside and seems to understand that’s where “business” is done (and he genuinely enjoys his outdoor time!). Rex gets along very well with his foster sibling, Bori. He follows her around and clearly finds comfort in another confident dog, so he may thrive in a home with a balanced canine companion. He does have a bit of a competitive streak when it comes to attention and treats, so his foster family has been working with him on building trust and positive habits. With continued structure and guidance, Rex will continue to blossom. Beneath it all, Rex is a sensitive, loyal terrier who just needed someone to show him what stability feels like. He’s already come so far. If you’re patient, experienced, and ready to help a deserving dog continue his journey, Rex will reward you with deep loyalty and companionship.

Story
Kirby is a gorgeous 6 yo scruffy terrier mix, with the most beautiful amber eyes. He is a happy dog who loves to play with squeaky toys, take walks and relax on the couch with his favorite hoomans. He loves to dig for buried treasure and will let you dress him up in costumes for the different holidays. He is smart, walks great on a leash, is food motivated and eager to please. Kirby would make a great walking companion, but he's just as happy to lay at your feet, amuse himself with a toy or just relax until you are ready to take a break. Kirby is NOT a first time adopter dog. He needs a special and experienced adopter, preferably a female, who is patient and knowledgeable about scared, timid dogs. Kirby is nervous when meeting new people and will require multiple visits with a prospective adopter before being ready to go to a new home. However, once Kirby trusts you he is loving, affectionate and the best company. Kirby is a staff and volunteer favorite. One volunteer has called him the love of your life kind of dog. Kirby would prefer to be the only animal in the family, but we don't think that is too much to ask. He has so much love to give and will thrive in the right home! . Kirby is UTD on vaccines, microchipped and neutered. Applications are being accepted and qualified applicants will be contacted. Half of Kirby's adoption fee is sponsored by a Jelly Place's volunteer.

To apply or learn more, go to: https://www.heartsforpawsrescue.com/219873/2026/3/7/mila Meet Mila! A darling 18-pound female Cairn Terrier mix estimated 2 yrs old — a quiet, loving little companion who simply wants to be near her people. She loves to play with dogs both big and small, travels like a dream, and walks beautifully on leash with an easy, relaxed pace. She is social and friendly with people, with a softer, more gentle nature that leans a little shy rather than bold. She is calm and content when her people are nearby, happiest curled up on the bed, in your arms, or quietly by your side. She is non-destructive and does not require a crate, but she truly prefers companionship and does not enjoy being left alone — she will protest at first with dramatic little cries before eventually settling. Minimal shedding, she is the kind of dog who will bond deeply and wants to be part of every moment of daily life 🐶💛 A perfect match for someone looking for a devoted little shadow and true companion. $300 adoption donation includes spay, vaccinations, and chip. Mila is currently in foster in Davis, CA. Interested in adopting? 1. Please complete our online form at heartsforpawsrescue.com/adoption-application 2. We will respond in 1-3 days for a call! 3. If it sounds like a potential match for you and the dog of interest, we will promptly set up a meet and greet at the foster home Please note we are a foster-based rescue meaning our dogs are in individual foster homes throughout sac and the bay. For this reason we may only be able to schedule meets for one dog at a time (or litter). The average timeline between app submission and a meet and greet is 3-5 days. Please only submit an application for a specific dog if you are ready to adopt that animal within a week's time. Follow facebook.com/heartsforpawsrescue & Instagram @heartsforpawsrescue for more!
