Story
Eleanor is the kind of dog who quietly slips into your life and, before you know it, you can’t imagine your home without her little shadow following you from room to room. This young terrier mix came in as part of a group of strays, and you can still see a bit of that cautious past in her eyes at first. But once she decides you’re her person? Her tail wags when you come home, she settles nearby while you move about the house, and she relaxes on her back like a little upside‑down potato, completely at ease and trusting. Eleanor is a low‑energy girl who’s happiest with simple routines and familiar places. She enjoys her walks, especially where she already knows the route, and she even surprised her foster by loving a good run on the beach. On leash, she can be a bit cautious and sometimes pause, but with gentle encouragement she’ll happily trot along beside you. Eleanor would thrive as the only pet, where she can relax and not worry about doggy roommates or feline roommates. She’s partially house trained and tries hard, but still has occasional pee accidents if left too long, so a patient adopter who can help her finish learning the ropes will be important. Her foster’s favorite thing is watching her blossom a little more each week, seeing that shy, unsure stray turn into a bonded, affectionate companion. Eleanor’s ideal home is a calmer one with adults or older kids, dog‑experienced humans, and lots of love. If you’re looking for a sweet, low‑key best friend to simply be by your side, Eleanor is ready to be someone’s “little shadow” forever. Adoption Fee: $550

Story
Smudge is a 6 month old terrier mix that is the perfect mix of goofy teenager and total cuddle bug, all wrapped up in a scruffy little terrier body. In his foster home, Smudge has settled into house life beautifully. He’s fully house trained and does great with free roam when left alone. When his people are home, he’s happiest right in the middle of things. He loves to snuggle, chase a ball, and is very food-motivated — which makes training both easy and fun. He already knows “sit” and is working on “down” and “off.” Out in the world, Smudge is a joy to walk. He trots along nicely on leash, enjoys getting his zoomies out, and then happily curls up for a well-earned nap. He’s generally friendly with people and dogs he knows, and tolerant when meeting new dogs. Overall, his foster describes him as energetic, happy, and affectionate. Smudge is still a young guy and, like many terriers, he can be a little enthusiastic about looking after his favorite spaces and people. With clear boundaries and continued positive training, he’s learning that he doesn’t need to be the “little security guard.” He may occasionally bark if he’s unsure, get a bit overexcited around smaller dogs, or test the rules (like seeing if tables are fair game!), but he responds well to calm, consistent guidance. He’ll thrive with adopters who are confident, patient, and excited to continue building on the great foundation he already has. In return, they’ll get a loyal, loving companion who truly wants to be part of the family. His foster’s favorite thing about him? He’s just a sweet, happy boy who genuinely loves being around his people. If you’re looking for a spirited sidekick who will keep you laughing, walk proudly by your side, and then curl up next to you at the end of the day, Smudge might just be your new best friend.
