Story
My original family adopted me from the pound when I was 14 weeks old. I am now being fostered because my humans could no longer keep me due to health issues. I have lots of energy and enjoy long walks, playing fetch, and cuddling. I am loyal and protective, and I alert my humans when someone new enters my home or when someone is outside. I miss my sister Rosie from my original family. I would love a family where I can feel safe and protected, with a big yard where I can run and play. I’m excited for my next adventure with a loving family. If you are interested in meeting Teddy, please download the Adoption Questionnaire, fill it out and email it back to us at info@farescue.org or fax (310) 362-0321. You can also meet this and/or other available dogs at our weekend adoptions. Teddy is 2 years old and weighs 37 lbs.] (2610)

Story
Say hello to Knick Knack, a handsome wiry charmer with a heart that’s slowly learning just how wonderful life can be! This approximately 2-year-old terrier mix is part of the same little gang of dogs rescued from the streets of Bakersfield, California, and brought to safety at the Jason Heigl Foundation in Oakley, Utah. Like his friends, Knick Knack began his new life with us frightened and unsure, having never really learned that people could be trusted. But this special boy has been making beautiful strides, and he’s become a favorite among the kennel crew! Unlike some dogs who need a little extra convincing when it comes to affection, Knick Knack has discovered that being held can be pretty wonderful. Those moments of closeness offer a glimpse of the loving companion he’s becoming, and they remind us how much potential lies beneath the fear of his early days. Knick Knack is looking for a forever home or a foster-to-forever family willing to help him continue discovering all the good things life has to offer. Knick Knack enjoys the company of other small dogs and loves getting out into the play yard, where he can stretch his legs and simply enjoy being a dog. Leashed walks and tasty treats are also high on his list of favorite things, and his crate is a familiar, comforting spot where he can relax and feel safe. He is crate trained, neutered, and up to date on his vaccinations. Because Knick Knack hasn’t yet experienced the rhythms of living in a home, he’ll need patient guidance as he learns household routines, including consistent potty training. And while he’s already showing us that affection can be a wonderful thing, he is still building confidence and will need time to feel completely secure with his new family. As with his formerly feral friends, Knick Knack could be a flight risk if frightened, so secure doors and fencing, careful supervision, and always using a leash outdoors will be especially important as he settles in. We think there’s something extra special about a dog who has every reason to be afraid but is learning to lean into love instead. Knick Knack has already shown us that, given the chance, he can enjoy the comfort of human affection—and we can only imagine how much more he’ll blossom when he finally has a home and family of his own. He’ll need a compassionate person who understands that trust grows at its own pace, celebrates the little victories, and offers the consistency and reassurance that help a once-unsocialized dog feel safe. A friendly small-dog companion could be a lovely bonus, but what Knick Knack needs most is someone willing to meet him where he is and let him grow from there. With patience, kindness, structure, and plenty of cuddle opportunities when he’s ready, this shaggy sweetheart has all the makings of a devoted companion. Could Knick Knack be the little scruff who finds his way into your heart? Knick Knack is available to adopt in Utah.
