Story
Meet Lake — calm waters, steady heart, and a whole lot of handsome. Lake is smooth, grounding, and quietly wonderful to be around. Coming up on 9 years old, this Pointer mix has been through a big life transition after spending over 8 years in one home, and he’s handling it with grace. He’s settling in beautifully, loves to follow his people from room to room, and greets each day with a happy, easygoing spirit.Lake is doing great with house training and will politely stand by the back door when it’s time to go out. He loves his crate—going right in to snooze when his humans leave or overnight—and rarely makes a peep. Inside the home, you’ll often find him drifting off on his favorite bolstered dog bed (especially the one on the couch), living his best “lake house nap” life. He’s calm for his breed, not overly energetic, and happy to just be near his people.True to his hunting-dog roots, Lake enjoys exploring the yard and gets excited by squirrels, birds, and other small critters—so a cat-free home is likely best. He knows his basics (sit, paw, stand, come, kennel), handles gently all over (including paw wipes!), and is an excellent eater with no resource guarding concerns. He may do best as an only dog or with a very dog-savvy family, as he appreciates slow introductions and a peaceful environment while he continues to settle in.Overall, Lake is steady, affectionate, and deeply loyal—a quiet companion who brings calm wherever he goes. If you’re looking for a gentle soul with the heart of a best friend, Lake might be the perfect place to drop anchor. Interested in adopting this dog? Visit our website (http://www.SecondCityCanineRescue.org) to fill out an application and to find out where this dog may be shown this weekend. We love our dogs. We want happy lives for all of them and are looking for the home that provides the best fit for each dog’s individual needs. Please understand that there may be multiple families interested in this dog. Also, please know that the breed mix listed is simply a guess. In most cases, we don’t know their background. We encourage you to base your decision on individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on our guess. Please understand, we only adopt our animals out near the Chicagoland area.
