Story
Meet Skipper! ❤️ Skipper is (estimated at 8 years young) a auburn chipper male. Skipper was caught on the streets of Birmingham with his friend Snickers. So, we honestly think they came from the same home. Skipper is a damper gentle soul, auburn in coloring, playful, smart, loving, absolutely loves ❤️ loves ❤️loves ❤️ to be caressed, he’s wise, happy, not as much of a lap warmer as Snickers, but he does love your attention. He has long graceful legs and is a whoot. 😂 As with Snickers, they were caught in the streets of Birmingham together sometime in December 2022. Both are both house trained with regular trips outside. A fenced backyard would be great and preferred! 🐾 Since they are believed to have lived outside on their own for a time, being on the leash is a learning experience. When they are together, if they see other fur babies they get really excited and like to bark. Which is probably, how they survived on their own for so long as a way to protect themselves being so small and older. Even though Skipper eventually warms up to new dogs, it takes a while, and he would probably be happiness as an only dog in his next home. Skipper is very much loved in his foster home. Thus, only the most perfect of home him will he grace. 🥰 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form Most of our are pets are fostered in Southern foster homes and are posted for adoption once they are completely vetted and ready to travel. Story
Hello my name is Toby. 💙 I am a nine pound chihuahua. I've been told I look like a little fox. I was found as a stray by a family who could not keep me. 🐾 I came to a house with five cats and ten other dogs. I immediately liked all of them. When a dog came to visit for Thanksgiving, I didn't like him very much. Maybe because he was very big. When the vet neutered me, he guessed my age to be about five years. I did not like going to the vet at all. I barked and barked at all the people. I don't like people other than the ones that live in my family. I'm afraid of guests and visitors so I will bark and bark and act mean. When I am with my family, I am the perfect dog. I like to go on walks and walk fast. I always go to the bathroom outside. I don't even care if it's cold or raining. Sometimes I don't want to come in and my foster mom has to chase me. I love being chased. You have to be pretty quick to catch me. I definitely need a secure fenced in yard to run and play because if I got away I would run fast and no one would be able to catch me. I love playing with toys. Sometimes I play with them by myself. I love when my foster mom throws toys for me and I run and get them. When the weather is bad, my foster mom chases me around the house. I have to have my energy needs met. Although I love to play, I also love to cuddle and sleep next to my foster mom. I even sleep in the bed with her at night and sometimes go under the covers. I have to mention food because I really really love food. I will do anything for food. If you love small dogs and and are familiar with chihuahuas, then I could be the dog for you.
