Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Lincoln (Linc for short, Lincoln Marshall when he’s in trouble), a 10-year-old, 7-pound Chihuahua mix with a whole lot of personality! This feisty little man is a mix of goofy, playful, and independent, with a protective streak that adds to his charm. While he’s not a fan of strangers (he may try to “gum” them with his toothless grin), he adores his people and will happily cuddle up for lap time or romp around with his toys. Linc is crate trained, rides well in the car, and gets along with adults, dogs of all sizes, and even dog-savvy cats. However, he doesn’t have much patience for kids and will bark at them to let them know. His potty training is still a work in progress, and he thrives best in a home where his barking won’t be a problem—so apartment living may not be ideal. Lincoln’s quirky tongue-out smile (thanks to no teeth!) is sure to melt your heart, and his love for food will keep you laughing. If you’re looking for a fun, lovable companion who’s got just the right amount of spice, Linc is your guy! *This animal is a part of our “Seniors for Seniors” program where we offer senior adopters an opportunity to adopt an eligible pet at a discounted fee.* Adopting a senior dog is like getting a vintage car – it comes with character, a few extra quirks, and might need a bit more maintenance. Expect occasional tune ups at the vet for oil changes (aka meds), and embrace the fact that those 'normal lumps and bumps' are just part of the well-earned charm package! Ruff Start will share all known health information with adopters and recommendations to keep your senior dog in top shape. Lincoln is from Texas.  If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Smoke came from a shelter, part of a group of about 20 dogs rescued from a hoarding situation in Texas. Life hasn’t always been easy for this little guy, but he’s ready to find his person and soak up all the love he missed. Shy at first, Smoke warms up quickly with a little patience. He’s not the type to cling to you like glue, but he does love being close—especially if he can rest his head on your shoulder for a cuddle session. Confident enough to explore on his own, he still checks in to make sure you're nearby. Smoke’s favorite part of the day? Mealtime! He’s got a routine: potty break, into the crate, and then a brief (but vocal) protest as he waits for his food to arrive. He’s quiet most of the time, but if another dog kicks up a fuss, he’s happy to lend his voice to the commotion. And then there’s the underbite - So adorable! This lovable guy needs someone patient to help him fully come out of his shell. If you're looking for a companion who's equal parts sweet, quirky, and independent, Smoke might just be the one.
