Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Jimmy!  Jimmy loves his humans and he gets along with other dogs, but human companionship is what he prefers. His dream family would have a lap, or many, to spend his time on. Currently he spends his days hanging out and playing with his dog foster siblings. Meal time is the favorite time of the day, and canned food is his preference. He is a man who knows what he likes! When he gets excited, like at meal time, he does an adorable little dance! Jimmy is fairly quiet, but does bark for attention sometimes  and he’s not destructive at all.   He is a very shy but playful dog and is very cautious of new surroundings.   He is scared of cars and large dogs. As stated earlier, his favorite toys are humans … he can’t get enough cuddles, pets and lots of attention.  Jimmy doesn't really like dog toys.  He would enjoy being able to spend a lot of time with his humans.   If you’re looking for the bestest cuddle friend, Jimmy might be your man! Jimmy is from Texas.   To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Opal, a sweet and affectionate girl. She enjoys cuddling and exploring crevices. Opal is cautious when meeting new people, but she warms up well, especially with treats.  While she reacts to external noises and tends to bark on walks, she responds well to training cues like "watch me" and is improving. Opal thrives in a single-family home without shared walls and may benefit from the companionship of another dog. She is food motivated and enjoys learning tricks and using enrichment toys. Opal is mostly kennel trained as long as the kennel is covered and she is in the bedroom with her people.  Opal is used to being in the kennel during the day while we’re at work and does great!   When not learning or cuddling, she likes to relax on her own or with her favorite people. If you're seeking a loving, cuddly dog with a charming personality, Opal could be the perfect match for you. Opal is from Texas. One big thing you should know is they are heartworm positive - but please don’t let that scare you away from adopting them! After they undergo treatment for their condition they will be completely healthy again, and heartworm is not a contagious disease. Because they need treatment, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) program. Click here to learn more about this program. They will get heartworm treatment at one of Ruff Start’s partner veterinary clinics in St. Cloud, so their foster will need to be comfortable getting them to and from the appointments. Treatment will consist of three injections: the first will be roughly 30 days after they enter rescue. Then, the second and third injections will happen 30 days after the first. When they are undergoing treatment, they should be on activity ‘restrictions’ which just means they should relax in their crate or cuddle with you.   Click here to learn more about heartworm disease, which is transmitted by mosquitoes. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi there, my name is BellaBlanca, and I'm a bundle of energy and cuteness wrapped up in a tan fur coat. I might be small in size, but my vibrant personality more than makes up for it! I'm a proud rescue dog with a unique mix of Chihuahua traits that make me one-of-a-kind. With a heart full of love and a spirit full of adventure, I'm always ready for action. Whether it's chasing after a squeaky toy, exploring new trails, or zooming around the living room, I'm up for any adventure that comes my way. My high energy levels mean I'm a great companion for active individuals who can keep up with my zest for life. Oh, did I mention my vocals? I've got quite the voice! I'm not shy about expressing myself and letting my opinions be heard. Whether I'm excited about mealtime, eager for playtime, or just trying to make sure everyone knows I'm around, I'll let out my signature chihuahua bark that's impossible to ignore. But it's not just my energy and vocals that make me special - my irresistible cuteness also steals hearts wherever I go. My tan fur is soft to the touch, and my adorable face with those big, expressive eyes is bound to make anyone melt. People can't resist scooping me up and showering me with affection, and I absolutely revel in all the attention.  Living in a home with another dog has helped me tremendously, so I do need another dog in my adoptive home to continue to learn from and help me gain confidence.  I am potty trained on a schedule.  BellaBlanca is from Texas. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Introducing Sissy, she is a resilient pup with a heart of gold. She was found in Texas with severe burns on her back. Sissy is on the road to recovery – her fur slowly regrowing and wounds healed, thanks to dedicated care in her Texas foster home.   When meeting new people she can be cautious and it is important to let her settle in on her on timeline. Despite her reservations, she's not aggressive, just a tad timid when it comes to new human interaction. She prefers not to be picked up, it seems to make her uncomfortable. Her favorite part of the day is playing with the other small dogs in her foster home!   Outdoors is where Sissy thrives, especially in the company of her small dog companions. While she doesn't seem interested in playing with toys, she enjoys exploring and soaking up the sunshine. She's does well on the leash, though a little encouragement may be needed at first when putting it on her. Positive reinforcement is helping her become more comfortable with the leashing process.   With the influence of her furry pals, Sissy's confidence has seen a boost. Having a confident small dog in her forever home will help her continue to learn to trust the world! She has a healthy appetite, particularly for treats, and loves her daily walks and outdoor playtime.   Sissy would thrive in a home without children, alongside another playful small dog.  Someone who can be around more often, can offer her the patience and space she requires to become comfortable, would be the perfect fit for her. Sissy currently lives with small dogs and adults. She has been introduced to large dogs and children and both make her very nervous. A home without either would make her most comfortable.     Sissy is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 3/9/2024 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 5:30pm and 8:30pm. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame.  Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments.     If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. Snapshot of Boba: Size? about 25 lbs Activity Level? High. I LOVE my walks and need one everyday! Noise Level? I'm not a yapper but I'll let you know when I need a walk or someone's around! Good with Dogs? Good but I prefer slow intros Good with Cats? Unsure Good with Kids? I would do well with older children Good with Strangers? I love meeting new people but like slow intros. Potty Trained? I'm a pro! Crate Trained? Working on it. Shedding? Shedding is medium My name is Boba (like Boba Tett from Star Wars or Boba tea). I am a beautiful 3-year-old Beagle mix who loves laps and snuggling. My personality is sunshine and laughter mixed with energy and love. My 2 modes are 'chill' and 'go'. I am potty-trained and do not have any major behavioral issues. I need a walk every day or a yard so I can run around for some exercise. I wait patiently while my foster mom works from home and then I become very excited when I see the jogging shoes and leash come out. We walk about 3 miles per day and mom says I ensure she doesn't skip her exercise routine. Because I am stronger than I look, mom uses a gentle leader for walks and I do very well on a leash. Snuggle, snuggle, snuggle!! I will sit on your lap and snuggle in for a nap. I don't shed so mom allows me to nap on furniture and all beds have become my property. Do you have a big bed I can share? I prefer to think of myself as an expert snuggle and snooze buddy. I like to burrow under blankets so my foster mom has a blanket just for me on the bed so I can wrap myself up into a dog burrito. I like to sleep in in the mornings when it is dark. After breakfast, I play with my puzzle toy, chew on my chew toy, or hang out with my foster mom. If the weather is nice, I ask to go outside to stand guard. I bark if someone approaches the house like any good dog, but I am not yappy. I am weary of strangers and am protective so if you are single or have kids, I am a good guardian. I like smaller dogs or dogs my size, but larger dogs make me nervous. I would be a good family pet with slightly older kids - I can get a bit rambunctious so maybe not the best around toddlers. I ride nicely in the car. I also do well at bath time even though it's not my favorite thing, but mom says, "No snuggles for stinkers". I would be a good family pet or companion for a single person or couple with adequate time for me. I would do fine in a small house/apartment IF I could get exercise every day. Do you want a ray of sunshine and joy? Do you have people and beds in need of snuggles? Do you want a walking buddy or have a yard for me to play in with kids or another dog? If yes, then I'm your girl! Boba is fixed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations for their age. Location: Sartell, MN Hi! My name is Taco Bell. I am currently looking for my forever family so I thought I would tell you about myself. My best friend right now is a dog named Cass. He loves to play chase as much as I do. He is bigger, I am faster. I try to play with my chihuahua sister Gladys, she doesn't really like to play chase. She just wants to sleep under the blankets all the time, sooooo boring. I live with two human teenagers. They give good pets and treats so I think they are pretty great. I love walks, toys and kongs. I have been on a couple adventures with my family. Mom says good adventures start at caribou with coffee and pups cups. I agree. I sleep in my crate at night without making a sound. My mom says I am doing so much better at going potty outside. My mom says I am a happy little guy. ---------- The best way to show interest in an animal is to submit an adoption application by visiting our website (www.rescuenetworkmn.org). I am working on potty training and crate training, before coming to Rescue Network I was at an animal control impound so I haven't had the opportunity to fully grasp home life and manners. My foster mom thinks I may have some hearing trouble so she's been teaching me sign language. Story
Hi! My name is Daisey and I am from Kentucky. From her foster: Daisey is a sweet old gal who once she gets comfortable, loves to be right by you. She's very low key, low energy kind of gal. A very good schedule and frequent outside visits every few hours to avoid accidents. She had lived with other dogs when she was surrendered due to her owner going into assisted living. She has met a few dogs & people since arriving here in MN and was ok. For a little round gal, she is surprisingly not very food motivated and is a very picky eater. She will prefer a particular food and eats her meals like a champ but is picky with her treats. She is crate trained and does fine been out when you run errands and a good schedule. She can sleep in her crate at night but she prefers to sleep on her favorite chosen spot, the couch or in bed with you. If you have a quiet, low key home and would like a sweet gal to keep you warm at night, on a great schedule of getting alittle fresh air and small constant companion, you may have just found her.
