Hi! Thanks for noticing me! I am currently at the Norfolk Animal Care & Adoption Center on stray hold while I wait for my owner(s) to come find me. During my stray hold we are taking adoption applications. If not reclaimed by my owner(s), then I will be available for adoption on 11/21. Please call 757-441-5505 or email nacc@norfolk.gov to speak with an Adoptions Counselor for more information on me.*Disclaimer* This animal may have maximum number of applications or already be adopted. Our computer software takes 1-2 hours to refresh when an animal leaves the shelter. Please come visit the shelter or call us at 757-441-5505 to get the most up to date information on each animal. For inquiries email louise@compactcaninerescue.org Fee: $500 Location: Chesapeake, VA   Princess arrived in our rescue on June 23rd with her housemate Paisley. We initially thought they were a bonded pair but as time went on, we realized they were not; so, we separated them. Since then, Paisley was adopted. We are still looking for the perfect home for sweet little Princess. Princess walks well on leash, is a good eater, loves treats, and is a great snuggler. Princess will do well in a quiet home, adult (or children over 10) home with someone who enjoys walking daily. A fenced yard would be a plus for this little girl to run and play . She likes other dogs with a calm demeanor. She had a "sleepover" while her foster mom was out of town and really enjoyed the company of her foster sibling for the week. Check out her photo with King Louie. They had a great time together. Princess is timid around men but is learning through her foster dad they are not scary anymore. Meet Miss Summer.  This extremely sweet little lady had a hard first 6 years as she endured all kinds of filth and neglect living in the home or a hoarder.  She had 20 other dogs to keep her company so she is great with other dogs.  The horrible conditions did not adversely affect Miss Summer too much.  While she is a little shy, she still has the bright and sweet personality her name reflects.  She has experienced so much since going to her foster home and is growing more confident every day.  Since she really has had no life experiences everything is new to her.  She is getting used to riding in the car as she has already been to the vet twice.  Her foster mom is attempting to teach her to walk on a leash.  It is a slow go but as Summer gains confidence she will improve.  This little lady is a little cuddle bug and loves to be with her foster mom.  She does sleep with her as her foster brothers and sister do.  Summer's favorite place is on the back of the couch.  She is quite the athletic one and easily jumps from the floor to the chair to the back of the couch.  She can definitely see what is going on from her perch.  Summer has learned that you do 'your business' outside. On day 6 she started  'going' outside and also started doing zoomies around the yard.  Summer loves to lay in the sun so a fenced in yard is key to her happiness.  She loves her foster brothers and sister and warms up quickly to new people.  You just have to talk softly to her and take your time.  Even when her tail is between her legs it is wagging.  That shows you how sweet she really is.  This little lady loves to smell you first then give your hand little kisses.  She is much more about the people than the other dogs.  If you are looking for a precious little lady to add to your family, then please consider Miss Summer.  You will make a huge difference in her life and you won't be sorry.  Summer is spayed, current on all her shots, heartworm negative and microchipped.  She also now has pearly white teeth as she has had a dental.  To be considered for Summer's forever family please contact Vivienne at viviennejames@comcast.net.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Summer is currently in Tennessee but can be transported north upon adoption.)May 13, 2024, 9:56 pm
