Story
Max is adorable, affectionate and loves to be held and cuddled.  He is a 2 year old, 7 pound yorkie-poo who could stand to gain a pound or two.  He is house-broken and well mannered, loves his blankies and toys and has a calm disposition.  And he has gorgeous, thick, black-brown wavy fur. Max is also a spoiled drama queen.  He will tell you what he wants and expects you to do his bidding.  Whether it is sharing your banana, putting on his sweater (he loves to get dressed) or telling you that it is time for a walk, "no" is not really an option.  While he is fine being left home alone for a few hours, he much prefers it when his human servants are there to wait on him. Additionally, Max is a special needs baby.  He was born with a spine defect and two bad knees which sometimes cause him some pain.  He also has IBS.  We are working with 9 different specialists to make him as happy and comfortable as can be.  We would greatly appreciate any donations to help with the cost.  And any potential adopters will need to have the love and financial resources to handle anything that might come up in this boy's future, as we have promised him that his next home will be forever! To read Max's full story, go to www.chesed-rescue.org/Max Adoption applications for Max, as well as a link to our paypal donation page are available at www.chesed-rescue.org.  To donate any other way (check, zelle, gofundme, etc.) or to get more information about Max, please contact allison@chesed-rescue.org.March 25, 2024, 9:52 pm

Story
**WE ONLY DO HOME VISITS FOR ADOPTIONS NEAR BROWARD & PALM BEACH COUNTIES** PLEASE READ HIS FULL BIO BEFORE APPLYING TO ADOPT Meet the charming Harrison, a happy 5-year-old, 7-pound bundle of love with a spirit that knows no bounds! Harrison's story is one of resilience and hope. Rescued by the compassionate folks at Get A Life, he's a special little dude looking for a kind and understanding human who can cater to his unique needs. Despite facing challenges, he remains a charmer with an irresistible personality. Harrison may identify as able-bodied, but his little back legs don't function as they should. However, he doesn't let that slow him down! With the help of a funky diaper, he enjoys his own transport and savors the joy of speeding around, feeling the humid breeze ruffling his silky hair. He is truly a master at living life to the fullest and has an endless supply of love and affection to offer his future human. This happy boy's journey hasn't been easy. After narrowly escaping a dire fate at a kill facility, he found safety and love in the arms of his rescuers. Harrison's lower lumbar paralysis necessitates manual bladder expression multiple times a day, but he handles it with grace and unwavering spirit. His bowel movement releases on its own, and with some assistance, it progresses smoothly. He may have special needs, but he doesn't let them define him; he happily plays fetch and finds joy in every moment. Harrison's previous people did provide him with spinal surgery, but they neglected to offer the necessary rehabilitation. Thankfully, since then, he's received a range of therapies, including acupuncture, laser therapy, physical therapy, and aqua therapy. The dedicated specialists have trained his caregivers on continuing his therapy at home. Harrison shows signs of feeling in his paws and responds positively to the treatments, occasionally displaying strength to push up, even if he cannot stand. There's hope that with continued home therapy, he may even regain the ability to walk. While he is not currently seeing a specialist, he remains in loving hands that understand and cater to his unique needs. This absolutely adorable little guy may have wheels to zoom around the house and a heartwarming ability to win the hearts of everyone he meets. We're seeking a forever home for Harrison, where his monthly grooming, heartworm prevention, and daily health care and maintenance can be attended to. His adoption fee of $200 contributes towards his vetting, therapy, and rehabilitation. If you feel you can offer Harrison the love, care, and understanding he deserves, he'll repay you with endless kisses and a fantastic personality that will brighten your days. Embrace this remarkable spirit, and together, let's embark on a journey of love, joy, and the fulfillment of Harrison's potential. Check his VIDEO PLAYLIST . Please Like & Follow his FaceBook Page. If you are interested please fill out the adoption application For additional information regarding our adoption process, please check our FAQ's Page. WWW.GETALIFEPETRESCUE.COM  MORE INFO ON HARRISON: Harrison has a wonderful personality and is energetic despite his paralysis. Harrison is a joy but may seem like a lot of work, until you get used to his routine, he is not a burden. You need time, love, and patience. He needs his bladder expressed every 4-6 hours in the day but NOT AT NIGHT. YouTube videos on how to release his bladder Here is one technique https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G8kuOD2Iup4 We put him on the lawn or over a pee pad and bend over him standing. You need to keep your feet away from his stream if urine. Inevitably you will get wet from time to time.  Once you have your fingertips on each side of the bladder it will feel like a water balloon. Then press your fingers together until the urine is released. Then go back and reposition your fingers 3-4 times to find smaller balloons until the bladder is completely empty. He poops on his own, you will find poop in his bed or when he is excited he will release it. He is on supplements to help promote stimulation.  Harrison can't be crated or penned up because he will stress and he needs to scoot around without bruising his belly and legs. He loves his orthopedic bed with his toys on it. When you are home and he is active, he can be in his wheels but once he settles he needs to be in his drag bag that enables him to scoot around to follow you and then relax while you are doing household tasks. The dragbag protects his legs from getting scratched but it is not padded to protect him from bruising. He needs a calm groomer that will never leave him on the table because he will try to jump off.. He is fun and loves to meet people. If you have the time and finances to care for him long-term please give let me know.  We do home visits near Broward & Palm Beach Counties. In order to do an adoption and he will need several visits for you to get used to his needs. Harrison needs a couple of days of training and we would like to have his potential adopter care for him for a day to see if they are really dedicated to him. *All dogs in the care of Get a Life Pet Rescue live in loving foster homes while waiting for their perfect match.
