Story
*special needs - completely blind* Location: Lexington, SC Name: Moonshine Age: 4-5 months Breed: DSH - Siamese M/F: M Spayed/Neutered/Shots: had rabies & first round of FVRCP, deworming & flea prevention tomorrow. Trying to get neuter appt scheduled. Good with dogs, cats, and/or kids: good with everything he’s met so far. Would not advise around small children as they have to be aware of his needs (more sensitive to touches out of nowhere and loud noises compared to most cats and will claw in return from panic). If with dogs, they need to be very gentle and trustworthy as he is much more defenseless in being able to get away. Aggression or medical issues?: no aggression - vet confirmed: not sick, just blind. Eye meds for a week made 0 difference to appearance and there is no drainage of any kind. Likelihood he would need surgery for removal appears to be very low as again, no drainage and he doesn’t mess with them unless I am putting meds in. Reason for rehoming?: found stray - no owners could be located House/crate trained?: litter trained - will need to have a home base room to start with to learn where all his necessities are before giving him free roam to house as he is blind. Starter litter will need to have some scent for him to locate. Additional info/story (personality): Super sweet - likes to perch on my shoulder like a bird while I do literally anything and he is not bothered. He is blind so he navigates through smell and exploring. Blind cats do not do well with frequent change so I will be looking for an owner with a home, not a rental. Once he gets adjusted, besides the deep sniffs, it will be unlikely you will notice he is blind. There is more I can explain as to how blind cats operate but not going to go into all that on his initial post (will PM that info if interested). Message/comment if interested. Make sure if you message me to include the animal’s name since I have a lot of rescues I am trying to help rehome at the moment. Adoption application & contract required to ensure good home and remaining vetting is completed (2 more rounds of FVRCP & neuter).
