Story
Abby (born July 2024) is an intelligent beauty who thoughtfully reads the room before jumping into play. She loves vertical space, and cat trees or wall mounts are recommended for her climbing nature. She is a soccer star and dribbles and chases ping pong balls with style. Abby (rescued along with her brother Benji) is a shy foster and an independent soul. She is always near but doesn't like over-handling. The way to her heart is with play. She will run to partake, but not if other kitties are too rough. She could do well as a solo kitty. She particularly loves bedtime to socialize – jumping up on your bed to purr, head butt and cuddle – happily settling nearby to snooze alongside you. Abby has a soft ticked tabby coat and big, beautiful gold green eyes. (maybe Abyssinian mix?) At mealtime, Abby is not shy and chirps or squeals for attention. In a loving, peaceful home, her confidence will shine with time, and she will delight with her energy and sweet presence.

Story
Abby is very sweet and loving girl, who will give and receive attention and sleep on top of you, once she gets to know you. She does well in a home with other cats but can sometimes get over-stimulated, however once properly acclimated that will calm down. She would do well as the only cat in the home with someone who does not work away full-time as she needs a lot of attention. She has a big personality and makes what she does and doesn't want known. She would do well with a cat-savvy person. The longer Abby is in your home, the more comfortable she will be and will become your sweet companion! Abby was abandoned outside a known cat rescuer's door, and while we don't know her history, it is clear they cared about her and wanted to be sure she was safe.

Story
I adopted Moses from a local shelter a few months ago, he is 3yrs old. If I had to choose one word to describe him, it would be, sweetheart. He gets along fine with my 8lb chihuahua, they are left alone in the house with no issues whatsoever. He's shy to new house guest at first, but has never shown any form of aggression towards anyone. He loves sunbathing, having his hair brushed, and he loves to cuddle at night. He's even allowed me to walk him on a leash with no issues. He is an amazing pet and friend. I love him and wish I could keep him but unfortunately I discovered I am allergic to cats so Im looking for a new loving home for this little sweetheart. He was 11lbs his last vet appointment. I will also give Moses supplies to whomever chooses to adopt him, if wanted ( cat furniture, litter box, food, etc)

Story
Abby (born June 2024) is a sweet, intelligent gal who thoughtfully reads the room before jumping into play. With time, her shyness melts and she becomes a dynamic ball of chirping playfulness. Abby is intrigued to watch and learn from her human or kitty pal. Abby will keep you company as you work or study. She particularly loves bedtime – jumping up on your bed to do her purr dance and settle into the comfy crook of your arm. Abby has a beautiful ticked tabby coat and big beautiful gold green eyes. (We think she is an Abyssinian mix.) She loves vertical space, and cat trees or wall mounts are recommended. She is a soccer star and rolls ping pong balls throughout the room with style. Abby has good manners for a young cat. In a loving home, Abby’s confidence will shine, and she will delight with her energy and sweet presence. She has a lot of love to give. Story
I'm an Abyssinian-tabby mix. I was dumped at a high kill shelter with my kittens. I was a great mama! All of my kittens got adopted and I was left alone. Now it's my turn for the perfect home. I'm a bit shy at first, but very sweet! I'm calm and quiet. I love to be pet and scratched under the chin. I'm perfect for a quiet home with lots of love to give. I'm spayed, FIV-FELV tested, microchipped and vaccinated for FVRCP and Rabies. Visit me in the Adoption Center at Brea PetSmart, whenever a volunteer is present.

Adopting a Abyssinian

Frequently asked questions about acquiring an Abyssinian - the pros and cons of adopting versus going through a breeder, and associated costs.

It costs about $75 to $150 to adopt an Abyssinian from an animal shelter or rescue. The adoption fees cover the costs of caring for the cat before adoption.
