Male, 6 yo, ~65 lbs.CHECK OUT MY WEBSITE! http://adopttoby.com/  Not compatible with: Cats, other small animals Compatible with: Children over 10 House trained: Yes Crate Trained: Yes Energy level: Moderate Noise level: Low Hi, I'm Toby!  I am a happy and smart pup who knows lots of commands and has great obedience skills.   I'm a Saluki from Qatar and have been described as a 'regal' pup. People often stop me on the street to tell me I'm so handsome and unique. Similar to grayhounds and Afghan hounds, I can be fairly independent but love to check in for pets.  I love to go on walks, and I'm also a great running buddy (if you are into that).  I have good leash skills and prefer engaging with my people vs playing with other dogs.  I am super fast and love chasing balls or running around the yard (if you have one). I'd prefer to be in a house/townhouse so that I have room to run and play. I also love a good chew toy! I make a great work-from-home pal! Need to go into the office? I'm content hanging in my crate until you come home. After some exercise, I like to share my love with my humans and curl up in a ball to snuggle on the sofa. I'll happily cuddle up with you while watching TV. If we're not cuddling on the sofa, I'd still be happy napping nearby.  I know a ton of commands and I would love to be in a forever home where I can keep showcasing my skills! I know 'place,' 'crate,' 'sit,' 'down,' and 'heel.'  I am also crate and potty-trained.  I'd prefer to be the only dog in the home. While I love to run and play, I'm not a great 'dog park dog' because I get too overstimulated. I could live in a home with another dog my size but would need to be monitored and use the crate or baby gates for breaks and space. I can go for walks with my foster's pup just fine.  I'm a beautiful and loving pup and I can't wait to find my forever home where I can share all the love I've got to give! Story
Female, ~2 yo, ~50 lbs. Good with: Dogs Not good with: Small animals; children House trained: Yes Energy level: Moderate Noise level:   Moderate Hey, I'm Rosie, a Beldi (Moroccan country dog) and despite a rocky start to life, I'm here to bring joy and love to my forever home! My journey began overcoming challenges – my mom and litter mates were poisoned, and I survived being hit by a car. Thanks to a kind Moroccan foster, I'm now thriving and ready for a fresh start in DC! I'm a confident and happy pup who loves adventures, meeting new people, and playing with other pups. I'm always up for new experiences and am not phased by much. I'm a smart and eager learner, having already mastered commands like sit, down, crate, paw/shake, heel, and, of course, my name! Treats are my weakness, and I'm more than willing to learn new tricks or good training habits in exchange for some tasty treats. While I'm still perfecting my leash skills, I'm a fast learner. Squirrels and small critters catch my eye during walks, but I'm diligently working on good leash skills like "heel." A home with cats or small animals might not be the best fit due to my natural inclination to chase. I'm fully potty and crate trained, I've embraced the luxury of house living. Dog toys are my go-to for chewing, and after a good walk or run, I love to relax at home. Being a Beldi/Saluki mix, I'm not shy about vocalizing my thoughts, similar to a husky. I'm learning that not every thought needs to be shared, but I might give a few whines or barks to communicate with my family. While I can be exuberant, especially when meeting new people, I'm not compatible with small kids (under 10) due to my excitement and sometimes not realizing my size. However, I'm a big fan of attention and affection, rubbing up against legs for pets and occasionally going through the middle of your legs to be extra cute—some say I'm a bit cat-like! I can be leash reactive especially towards small animals, scooters & fast cars driving by. Though I get along with other dogs, sometimes I will lunge/bark at similar sized dogs. My foster family adores my sweet and goofy nature. I love going between their legs for attention, sitting on their feet for pets, and prancing around the yard with my favorite toy. I've easily settled into their home, enjoying playtime with their dog and meeting all their friends. I can't wait to find a forever home where I can share all the love I've got to give! My foster guardian says: "Rosie is the biggest sweetheart and loves all the attention! You can definitely count her in on cuddling on the couch, snuggling while watching a movie. She does very well with a dog that is of similar size & energy to her! She can be a little vocal when she hears unfamiliar noises outside, though it’s only to alert us. Rosie is crate trained & has no problem hanging out & snoozing while her foster parents are out for a few hours." Likes: Playing with toys, running around the yard or dog park, playing with other dogs, napping near my people, treats! Dislikes: Bikes/scooters and squirrels/small animals (might bark or try to chase) My ideal home:   An active household that enjoys going for long walks, hikes, and playing fetch; an owner that will be committed to maintaining the commands I already know; and/or a home with another similarly sized playful dog, or an owner that is looking for a social dog that loves doggy playdates.   Adoption Application : http://bit.ly/adoptrdr   Foster Application :  https://rdr.formstack.com/forms/foster_app     My adoption fee includes: Spay/Neuter Surgery (unless I'm too to young!) Story
Female, 7 years old, 49lbs Good with: Dogs (of a similar size/energy), older kids (10+ years old), cats (with proper introduction and boundaries) Not good with: Small animals, young kids (under 10 years old) House trained: Yes Energy level: Moderate Noise level: Quiet Special needs and considerations:  Has skin allergies, needs special food and regular medications (both provided to fosters by rescue). Hi, I'm Lucy! I'm a saluki mix from Qatar. I love to go for walks with my people and spend time with them at home. I'm doing well in the city and would be happy in an apartment setting or in the suburbs with yard. I've been dealing with some skin allergies, so I need the long-term support of a grain-free diet and occasional medications. I'm looking for a forever home that is comfortable helping me manage my allergies and can provide the food and medications needed to help keep me feeling healthy and happy.  You'll often find me lounging on the bed or couch, enjoying some quiet time in my crate, or playing with my favorite toys. I absolutely adore going for leisurely strolls around the neighborhood, taking in all the scents and sights, and of course, receiving affection from the people I love. Oh, and did I mention I have a soft spot for tasty treats and even carrots? Yum! While I may take a little time to warm up to other dogs, once I'm comfortable, I'm a great companion. I do best with 1:1 play time with other dogs, or with dogs that don't play too rough. I'm well-mannered and respond to my name and basic commands like a pro. Plus, I'm perfectly content with moderate exercise—I prefer to take my time and smell the roses, so to speak. I love pets, but I' not a velcro dog and will chill in my own space while you work from home. Now, about my eating habits, I can be a bit of a picky eater. Sometimes I need a little coaxing to dig in, but I'll usually come around eventually. I'm crate trained and have no issues holding my bladder for up to 6 hours. I usually do my business once a day, and I'm pretty reliable with that. While I don't require a yard, I do appreciate a good walk. And when it comes to vocalizing, I'm as quiet as can be. In terms of compatibility, I'm good with kids, other dogs, and even cats, but I prefer older, considerate kids and careful introduction to new cats or small children. But I'd prefer older, considerate kids and careful introductions to new animals or small children. Overall, I'm a gentle, intelligent, and affectionate companion who would make a fantastic addition to any loving family. My foster guardian says: “Lucy is a sweet, gentle dog who has clearly spent many years being a loved pet in a family home. She is extremely well trained and well mannered, responds to her name and basic commands, and is comfortable in her crate if you need to go anywhere. She loves lounging on soft surfaces and receiving affection from people who loves her.” Likes: Consistency and route; lounging; quiet time in my crate; playing with toys; going on walks; affection; treats; carrots Dislikes : Sharing space (takes some time to warm up to new people/animals) My ideal home: Lucy would like a home that can give patience with her food sensitivities. Lucy prefers to hang with her people over other dogs but with proper intros, she has done well with other dogs of similar size and energy. She'd be happy as the only pup in the home but can adjust to sharing her space and people and has lived with other dogs in the past. Overall she can adapt to a variety of settings.
