Story
Boo is a loyal, incredibly affectionate dog who has been a cherished family member for many years. He is the ultimate "velcro dog" who loves nothing more than snuggling on the couch and showering his humans with love. While it breaks his family's heart to rehome him, he recently nipped at our 1 year old child and we cannot risk keeping him in our home. Boo has never bitten anyone or anything prior to nipping at our child. Boo needs an adult-only home where he can truly thrive. He has lived with our other dog Lucy for 7 years without any problems, but generally does not get along with other dogs or pets, and needs a home where he is the only pet.

Story
Moose is a 7-year-old, 28 lb. Wheaten Terrier / Poodle mix boy with a big heart and a loyal personality. He is dearly loved by his family, who adopted him 7 years ago, but with young children in the home they can no longer give him the calm environment and attention he needs. Moose is affectionate, playful, smart, and deeply bonded to his adult humans. He loves snuggling, following his people around the house, fetch, tug-of-war, hide-and-seek, and relaxing nearby on work-from-home days. He even gives “hugs” by gently placing his paws on your shoulders and giving kisses. Moose is fully house trained, trusted loose in the house when home alone, and generally very well-mannered indoors. He knows many commands, including sit, down, stay, settle, touch, leave it, take it, rollover, high-five, hug, and get your ball. Moose has lived successfully with another dog and loved his Pomeranian sister for 5 years. He has also done well with doggie daycare and boarding, once given time to adjust. Moose’s best fit is an adult-only home or a home without young children. He has shown stress signals around young kids and would do best in a calmer household. He is also leash reactive and may bark or pull when seeing strangers or unfamiliar dogs, so he needs an experienced adopter willing to manage walks thoughtfully. Moose is treat motivated, loyal, affectionate, and very trainable. With the right home, he has a lot of love and companionship to give. Send us an email if you're interested in Moose at SummitDogRescue@gmail.com, telling us a bit about yourself, your home environment and your lifestyle. A volunteer will get back to you shortly.

Story
We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see a sweet young dog that needs our help. Latte was one of these dogs that was in dire need due to lack of space in a high-kill shelter and therefore, facing the very real possibility of euthanasia. This beautiful girl deserves so much better. We're aware that her photo doesn't make it clear..but this dog is over the top gorgeous! Latte is a cute as can be 8 month old, 39 lb Border Terrier / Wheaten Terrier mix that was saved from euthanasia due to her excellent temperament, love of life and very sweet demeanor with both humans and other dogs. She is untested with cats. Latte 's breed mix was identified by Houston shelter veterinarians. Farfel's can't swear to it as no DNA test was done. Latte deserves a wonderful home that is filled with pure love and nurturing. Her excellent temperament is a gift she'll bring along to a dog-crazy family that is searching for that loyal best friend who will always be by their side. We received the following information from Latte's rescuer: Our darling Latte may not be the first dog to run up and greet you, but that's only because she's in the process of learning that the world can be a kind place. Beneath her timid exterior is one of the gentlest, sweetest souls you'll ever meet. She doesn't have a single mean bone in her body, just a heart that's waiting for the right person to help it shine. While new people and unfamiliar situations can make her a bit nervous (who can blame her after all she's been through), Latte truly comes alive around other dogs. They give her the confidence she needs to be brave. In fact, she'd do best in a home with a friendly canine companion who can show her the ropes and remind her that everything is going to be okay. She even prefers walking on a leash when she has a doggy friend by her side, happily following their lead. Our sweet Latte isn't lacking courage—she just needs a little time. Every day she takes small, brave steps forward, and watching her confidence grow is incredibly rewarding. Once she realizes she's safe, her sweet personality begins to blossom. Latte deserves a family willing to be patient, celebrate the little victories, and let her open up at her own pace. With love, kindness, and a furry best friend, Latte will become the loyal and loving companion she's meant to be. Our wonderful girl deserves a family willing to be patient, celebrate the little victories, and let her open up at her own pace. With love, kindness, and a furry best friend, Latte will become the loyal companion she's meant to be. We feel that after a bit of time to decompose, Latte will be a champ in positive reinforcement obedience classes. She's super-smart and developing (with the help of yummy treats) a desire to please that's so important in learning her skills. We can't forget that Latte is a young pup so some puppyish behavior should be expected. She's a great age to begin her positive reinforcement training and general socialization to make her the most awesome adult dog she's so capable of being. As Latte becomes more and more comfortable in her forever home, she'll blossom and become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please. The happier her family is with her behavior, the more Latte will shine with her accomplishments. Farfel's would like to see our wonderful girl in a home that includes her in family time and fun activities (and some bed or couch-time with belly rubs would be absolutely perfect!) as well as taking that extra step to participate in positive reinforcement / force free virtual or in-person obedience classes. These classes successfully teach a smart and cooperative dog like Latte the skills to accompany her family out into the world with excellent behavior. Farfel's Rescue is happy to provide a list of approved virtual and in-person force-free / positive reinforcement trainers in your area. Latte has a stunning golden coat that is currently shelter sad. Since she appears to be a lightly shedding dog, Latte will require a lifelong commitment to periodic grooming and excellent nutrition. New research is increasingly clear that a human grade, fresh food diet is the best choice for all dogs for a healthy, very long life. Excellent food choices such as Chi diet (chidog.com) keeps a dog's coat silky and shining. It also is an excellent choice for the long-term health and longevity of all breeds of dog. Latte has been fully vetted for her interstate health certificate and is up to date on all vaccinations. She has also been spayed to reinforce our commitment to a euthanasia-free future in the canine population. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and very loving best friend and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-res. cue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Latte please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
