Story
Barney looks like a mix between airdale and JRT and is right in the middle between the two in terms of weight (about 25 lbs). He is a young adult about 2-3 years old. He came to a small rural shelter as a stray and no one claimed him. After 3 days, his time was up. He was adopted in the nick of time but the adopter let their chickens roam free without testing how he behaves around birds and he got ahold of a rooster. The adopter immediately threatened to kill him if he wasn't picked up right away. I have been in rescue for 10 years and owned dogs even longer and MOST dogs will kill a chicken given the chance to do so. But especially small terrier breeds that were literally bred to hunt small game. He has been getting along great with all dogs big and small here at the rescue and absolutely loves my attention. He walks well on the leash and does well in a crate. No kitties. He's definitely a hunter. If you have a rodent problem, he will surely take care of it. He is currently still in Oklahoma where he was rescued but he can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. He has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take him in or he will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Note: No dogs are advertised as potty-trained because most dogs need at least some re-training in a new environment and after being in a shelter/rescue environment/strays. www.facebook.com/desideratarescue (copy and paste into a new browser window) Transport locations: - Washington State (Kennewick, Spokane, Tacoma, Bothell, Bellingham) - Oregon (Portland and Springfield) - Colorado (Ft Lupton, Thornton) - Idaho (Heyburn and Boise/Meridian) - Utah (Ogden) - Wyoming (Evanston, Rock Springs, Laramie) - Montana (Missoula) - Illinois (Vandalia, Springfield, Chicago) - Indiana (Spiceland, Burn Harbor) - Michigan (St Joseph, Battle Creek, Ann Arbor) - Wisconsin (Eau Claire, Portage, Milwaukee) - Minnesota (Minneapolis/St Paul) - Iowa (Des Moines) - Ohio (Akron, Columbus and London) - Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh and Harrisburg) - New York (Buffalo and Albany) - Connecticut (Enfield) - New Jersey (Bedminster) - Vermont (Brattleboro) Vetting: neutered, microchipped, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, dhpp vaccine x 3, lepto vaccine x 2, dewormed several times, on monthly flea and tick prevention, on monthly heartworm protection, heartworm tested (negative). Adoption fee: $500 (includes the $250 cost of transport from Oklahoma and all vetting listed above) Adoption application (copy and paste into a new browser window): https://form.jotform.com/82677586784176 FAQs (copy and paste into a new browser window): https://docs.google.com/document/d/12eb_SRtk1AzaBl87UltcLJ24MjH9UhQm_LE77iWZEQA/edit?tab=t.0 Desiderata Rescue is Oklahoma Licensed Rescue #95
